The extra active frame and being more advantageous on hit could mean they want players to use quarrel kick as a meaty. If my calculations are correct, hitting the last active frame of quarrel kick will leave you at +7, which happens to be the startup of crouching heavy punch. And it's even on block on the last active frame. Pairing that with the universal change of getting more v-meter from crouching heavy kick might mean it's practical to get the hard knockdown from crush counter to set up a meaty quarrel kick.

I really liked the quarrel kick changes this season. The removal of crush counter means that getting a counter hit can't screw you out of damage for either the first or the second activation of Aegis. The crush counter was extra bad for the second mirror, as you would get a combo on normal hit canceled into the mirror, but not on counter hit. The extra active frame allows for some meaties that are +7/-1. One easy one is for backrecovery after grounded heavy tackle. Simply dash in and step kick away. It is in the range for 2HP conversions on hit. Also, with the crush counter damage scaling, the stepkick is actually optimal punish for some reversals, specifically ones that are too far away for 5MP to combo into 2HP and too fast for jumps or charging 5HK. One example of these reversals is Chun-Li's, not sure if there are others. You still won't be throwing it often, but it certainly can be used a lot more. If they really wanted it to be used more, making it safe on block would do a lot, and making it come out one frame faster would mean you could use it as an easy meaty after throws. Can't speak for VT2 changes since I don't use that one at all, and I still don't think there is a reason to.

As much as I guess no other uriens used quarrel kick when it was a crush counter, I did. Quarrel kick cancel into aegis(back) into crouching heavy into ex fireball after bouncing off the aegis then fireball off of aegis again. I've been playing fighting games for a good while but only recently have I begun to explore the depth and complexity of them.

Uriens mostly buffed by characters like Guile and Cammy getting nerfed since they were some of his more problematic matchups

The point blank neutral jumping they could have buff crouching HP to hit instead of going under.

quarrel kick is still a useless tool because if you use it at jab range and they block, you are getting punished. Your best bet is to use it at cr.MP range and hope for a CC. Very situational but not a bad change

I don't think Urien really needed any significant changes and the nerfs to top tiers will help him way more, honestly. I do like the buffs but, I wanted his headbutts to be a tad riskier on block and whiff seeing that a lot of Urien's just go crazy with this move. More recovery or making it -3 or -4 on block if not spaced out would've been nice but, I think at the end of the day, you just have to learn to deal with it. He's a solid character and I really enjoy watching Nemo in tourney so, I'm glad they didn't kill him.

Urien got off easy, in my opinion. His headbutt is throw invincible and high-profiles. It should be a lot more negative if not punishable at all ranges and have more recovery on whif. Very abusable special and Uriens spam it all day.

Fire ball with the worth recovery of the game, chariot tackles negatives, violent knee drops negative. Urien suppose to be a mobile char...he only have 1 move -2 and is punished if you are crouching. You understanding the frame data or you only can't deal with Urien ?
