Prevention guideline via this vid: Causes 1. Fixed factors: Age (@45M - 55F), Sex, Family history and Ethnicity 2. modifiable factors: Diet (Fat, Cholesterol, Glucose), Hypertension/stress, Cigarettes and Cocaine and of course, being fit :) hope this mini summary helps

Yup, get lean too! Body fat, total cholesterol score, high LDL level, are all changeable. These factors will cause disease if not controlled

Tomatoes are the fourth most commonly consumed fresh vegetable and the most frequently consumed canned vegetable in the American diet. There is emerging epidemiology data supporting the connection between increased tomato consumption and reduced risk for both cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer. Here we will summarize the nutrient and the phytochemical content of tomatoes and tomato products, and how these bioactive components might act together to modulate disease development. Recent animal studies have investigated tomatoes, lycopene, and prostate cancer using the N-methyl-N-nitrosourea and Dunning rat models. These animal studies also suggest that diets containing tomatoes may decrease the risk or the progression of prostate cancer. Due to the frequency and the extent of tomato consumption, the supporting epidemiological and animal data, which connect increased intakes with decreased cancer and cardiovascular disease risk, tomato's role in the American diet is of undeniable importance as part of a healthy diet.

Great video & explanations but it's so vague on diet. How do you decrease your cholesterol, LDLs and triglycerides? By eating less meat (saturated fat & cholesterol) and diary (saturated fat) and eating more fiber (removes cholesterol from your body), antioxidants (fight off toxins) and unsaturated fats (lower your LDLs and raise HDLs) in the form of plants. Beans, lentils, oatmeal, whole grains, vegetables and fruits can significantly lower your LDLs, cholesterol and blood lipids as well as preventing diabetes. Plaques start to form in our arteries when we are just children because the Western diet is heavily based on meat/dairy and processed grains.
@1232-e7b4 жыл бұрын
Yes, eat less saturated fat and dietary cholesterol. There’s a lot of cholesterol deniers saying cholesterol has nothing to do with total cholesterol score. These people cite flawed studies where participants already have a high cholesterol score at baseline. Having a high cholesterol score means there’s a smaller chance that any added dietary cholesterol will have much effect on total cholesterol score. They need to study a group of participants with a normal total cholesterol score at baseline, add dietary cholesterol, then measure their total cholesterol score at the end of the study. When they do this, it shows that dietary cholesterol does in fact increase total cholesterol

I had a girlfriend that was 55 and was and still is skinny as a toothpick all her life and she only ate salads with no dressing. Never ate any meat or potatoes because she didn't care for it. She was also on Statins because her cholesterol was through the roof so we can see here that diet doesn't fix everything.

All good thankyou except we are finding that Total Cholesterol and LDL serum levels are not relevant. Triglycerides and low HDL are!
@1232-e7b4 жыл бұрын
Total cholesterol is relevant according to the world health organization and national heart association. Increase in total cholesterol score causes disease.

If atherosclerosis is the only thing that describes coronary artery disease, why isn't it called ONLY atherosclerosis or ONLY coronary artery disease? Why two names for the same thing?
