I am with Quan. From a little age I’ve always taught my son, who is the sweetest soul, how to defend himself. I encourage him to never start a fight, but has full reign to end one. Now that he is 11, he deals with a lot of bullies and kids saying mean stuff to him. I teach him empathy, because we never know what others are going through at home. I teach him that misery loves company and people will try and hate and bring you down to their level. Feel bad for them and move on with your life unbothered is the advice I give him. But again, if a kid puts hands on him, he needs to shut that down and punch them in the face!

The sad part is unfortunately it's the parents fault for not correcting his behavior so it's not going to change unless the parents get on top of it. They need to get on that soon as possible before it gets even more out of control. I'm right there with you & having Shine defend himself. ❤❤

I feel what quan said to shine is adequate ive done the same as a parent but as parents we can also bring the issue up to the class instructor pitch it as a safety concern or wellbeing of other children as a concern more than a complaint type deal. Its good this came up because as kids get older it happens all the time in activities and sports...this way your better equipped to handle it....great snow project.

I'm with Quan on this one. I experience this every day because I am a school bus driver, and kids hit kids all the time. I don't allow bullying. They get kicked off my bus after the first right up, and they do it again, they gots to go.

As far as the bully situation, all the parents need to meet with the people in charge and make them decide what is best for the majority. Before it gets messy. You guys are wonderful parents . I love the way you all are so involved and "hands on" with your boys. That's so important to the positive growth and development of children. As a retired educator (pre-school/kinderarten teacher and schol counselor I've seen and dealt with parents and children who bully. It's a learned behavior. So. the "aggressive" child in the gymnastics class has learned to be that way from other people-maybe his/her siblings, parents, care giver. To return that agression only teaches kids that to way to deal with negative brhaviors is to do something negative in return. Kids/people are ALWAYS going to come up against difficult and negative behaviors. Shine is a gentle soul, very smart and learns fast. The best way to handle your situation is to talk to him in language on his level about positive/ negative behaviors and how he can talk to kids who display negative behaviors toe=ward him. Hitting/pushing back is not a good way to deal with bulling. I would also speak to the parents of the child and let them know that you don't approve of the pushing/hitting, that you aren't raising your children to respond in that manner. Shine sees that you all don't yell at him or at each other, you don't hit,etc. Kids aren't too young to learn conflict resolution skills. I know "Papa Bear" doesn't want to see his kids get picked on but you want them to be able to handle situations that will come up without them (situations) turning onto physical altercations. As Savi gets older and begins to assert himself into the family mix, there will be times when he and Shine "get into it". When that happens you'll want them to talk it out, not fight it out. Parenting is a learn as you go life-long project. You're doung well. Blessings and Happy Holidays.💓💓💓💓🙏🙏🙏🙏

I think you guys handled the situation right. I teach my son the same way. They have to protect themselves and you also have to know if you are not there he wouldn't get bullied.Hope shine doesn't have to deal with that again. I love that idea for the snow. Im not a parent but I’ve been a Sunday school teacher and babysitter for 7 years now and I perfectly agree with what you’ve said. But mainly it’s the gymnastics instructor’s responsibility to handle the situation while the child is under their care along side relaying future actions to take with the bullies parents. Mainly that child needs to be taught good manners and exposed to loving environments ‼️‼️‼️

I wish I had known about this when my grandsons were toddlers, though they have never really seen snow. They are nine and 10 and I don’t think they will enjoy it as much as baby shine did. About a bully they’re everywhere. As long as your son is having fun doing what he loves to do it’s all that matters. Don’t worry about bully I was picked on and teased. In elementary school and middle school but I just learned to deal with it and forget it.

In my experience with my daughter being bullied, i taught her the exact same, to defend herself. I also took a further approach and spoke with the parent in regards to the bullying (EVEN THOIGH ITS OBVIOUS THAT THEIR CHILDS A BULLY) to let them know that we’re teaching our child defense so expect for her to to hit yours back and she won’t keep it cute. Met with teacher, dean and principal as well and stood up for our daughter and in sum., she hasn’t been bullied since. There’s enough going on in today’s world to have to deal with bullying too. You’re doing the right thing, PROTECT YOUR CUBS❤
