Perfect grace, charm and beauty. Poetry in motion. Four superlative artists in their prime: Astaire, Rita Hayworth, composer Jerome Kern, lyricist Johnny Mercer.

From 1942. The best of Astaire. With his best dancing partner, Rita Hayworth. Music by Jerome Kern. Lyrics by Johnny Mercer. Dubbing of Rita's singing by Nan Wynn. Look how Rita acts the lyric perfectly. Unforgettable. Watch Fred's subtle reacting (eyebrows). And the dancing is flawless. You can wait around and hope. But you'll never see the likes of this again.

Rita Cyd Charise and Vera Ellen were better dancers but for me the best Fred Astaire dancing partner was Ginger Rogers

For class, elegance and enormous talent, Fred Astaire was the shining star. Jerome Kern wrote such a beautiful score, also. Rita was a beauty, no question.

Kern was incredible! Richard Rodgers was also a seriously under-rated composer (My Funny Valentine is pure magic). Dorothy Fields told how she broke into tears after listening to Jerome's music 'The Way You Look Tonight, for her winsome lyrics. She worked so well with him. Another delightful lyricist, Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics to this beauty!

We could say that, this or that woman has elegance, beauty ... Rita Hayworth is elegance, it is beauty. They were born with her. It does not need more than to show itself as it is to magically dazzle. His gift pervades everyone who looks at it. There was nothing like ... nor will there be.

Maybe iam nuts but Rita hayworth was one of worlds true beautiful women. And from all i can find on her life ,she was mistreated and used by the men in her life! Far the life of me i cant imagine how a man could hurt such a wonderful woman. A GODESS!

Orson Welles (I think her 2nd husband) told that she really was a lovely person after she'd died and he was soon to go himself. He admitted he was the louse. All she honestly wanted was a stable, decent husband and a quite domestic life.

This dance, to this song, was so hightly regarded, New York City Ballet did a live version of it. They still do it, in repertory. Playing the film clip first. Then various dancers doing their own version, choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Morton Gould wrote the music, based on the Kern melody. Robbins asked Astaire for his approval, and Astaire said he'd be honored. (Hayworth was, by that time, no longer around to be asked, and of course, neither was Jerome Kern).

Why do today's women all have that awful stringy hair? They no longer have personality. As for those tattoos and bits of metal stuck everywhere, even where they can't be seen!!!!!!!

Anyone who thinks rap music is music and the various athletic gyrations performed in accompaniment to rap music are some form of dancing- are you kidding me? THIS is music. THIS is dancing.

Well, it is just contemporary rap that is ear hurting, Talking in a song generally is not a bad idea, check what Joan Blondell does in the "Remember my forgotten men" dance number from Gold Diggers of 1933
