Unfortunately, the "sinner's prayer" as we like to call it doesn't do anything. Lots of people who say the prayer have only deceived themselves into believing that they're saved. Salvation is true repentance (confessing AND forsaking your sins), and belief in Jesus' death and resurrection for our sins. The Bible says "many will come in that day and say Lord, did we not in your name? And He will say depart from me, I never knew you". People WILL and DO call Him Lord and are not saved. As Paul said, check yourself to make sure you're in the faith.

Amen!! That is Absolutely spot on. I tremble for the people who think because they said "the prayer" but are NOT walking in submission, humility, and obedience, that they are saved. They've got their fire insurance and can do whatever they want to. Its so deceptive!! They need repentance and transformation by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit and the POWER of Jesus in everyday life. Standing on that for someone in my life who is in that place.
