That being said i agree to a point. Ritchie is one of my favorite guitarist, but.... He didn't play all the instruments. Just one name, what about Cozy, right. Most would point out Ronnie. It's Rainbow! For Ritchie to call it "Ritchie Blackmores rainbow" is a tad arrogant. A trait he's known to express. I still love the crazy fucker lol!

Firstly, well done in sticking all this together. It's a thankless task so well done on a great job. Richie said back in the past putting Rainbow together was like putting a football team, picking the best to do the job. He got one hell of a singer there, I look forward to finding out more about Ronnie Romero and his back catalog.

Ritchie Blackmore will always be not only 1 of my major influences but also 1 of the greatest of all time. With that said, I've seen other recent Rainbow Concerts since he FINALLY decided to get back to where he belongs. This show, either he's not feeling well or something.....his playing is just not there in this show!!! I still would have paid big money to see it!! PLEASE KEEP IT GOING RITCHIE!!!

When he came back to R&R but only in europe and britain I wasn't able to go for health reasons, So this presentation of a great looking & sounding Rainbow concert is a wonderous gift to all fans. Yes indeed. Contrary to what some haters out there let on, Ritchie presented some really nice chops and most of the time the band and him were smoking. Sure enough, some songs didn't quite make the grade (Spotlight Kid - Ritchie rusty; Perfect Strangers - a little lacklustre, Romero a little flat; Burn - started really well and Ritchie kicked ass but then halfway thru I think his fingers got tired and sticky - might be the reason why there were no encores) but then again the absolute highlights were mind-blowing. Slower tempo and all that jazz, who cares? You don't need to speed to make an impression. It's what you say, not how fast you're yapping.

He's not the ONE at all. He can play the guitar OK but he's as dull as dishwater and always has been. he's got no charisma, he doesnt interact with the crowd, he's just living on past reputation as a moody rock star who happened to pick a good name for a rock band and have a couple of hit singles. I've just been to watch Def Leppard, now that is a band with attitude and they can all play the guitar just as good as Blackmore. What's he doing wearing that stupid bloody hat anyway.

@bigreality 5 жыл бұрын
Interesting opinion you have. I would rather replace vocalist and drummmer. Ritchie is doing well for his condition. 7:26 is smooth and tasty improvisation. Romero is great, but he is out of Rainbow context. Look at Grahamm Bonnet or Doogie. They are not in their the best shape, but so much fire in them. You need more than just a voice to be a frontman in the Legendary band.

My favorite guitar player EVER. The mix sucked during the entire concert until Burn. The drums, bass, and keys were buried and the show lacked energy until the END. Burn was almost great. Ritchie is old and it shows a bit in his playing, but for those of us were kids when Deep Purple was at its peak it's great to see him out playing. At his age, I'm surprised he played that long a show. Go, Ritchie. You influenced an entire generation of guitar players. The singer is pretty good, but there's a reason Ronnie James Dio is considered by most as the best heavy metal singer of all time. Folks take this for what it is and be happy to see Ritchie out playing. I used to play with Eddie Money, and I had a chance to meet him a few years ago, but due to his reputation for being difficult and standoffish, I passed. I didn't want him being on a pedestal for me to be ruined. I told Eddie once after a show that what he is now selling is memories. So, just enjoy watching him play the songs you grew up with and be thankful he's still out playing and remember how you felt the first time you heard the amazing songs he composed and the solos that blew away most of the other guitars of his time. Long live rock and roll, Ritchie.

Not trying to be godlike As I have seen him do so many times previously. He was always much too self-indulgent and had a tendency to get off into the weeds with monster narcissistic solos that were painful to listen to. This is first time i saw this and this made me smile, not 'cause it was bad but it was quite good. Try to make such a long career and try to play like 40 years ago. Not going to happen! Thumbs up!

I saw Rainbow in Munich last night. Ritchie was really in a good mood and into it. Great show. He definitely either fired his sound guy or got a second opinion. His tone was great. He also practiced and worked out some baselines for his solos. Some classic Ritchie emerged. By the way.....Jimmy Page was sloppy as fuck in his prime. What do you think he sounds like now. Who the fuck knows.

I read and saw some videos and everyone seems to agree that he upped his game for the Munich concert. I think if he went througha regime to get back his mojo, he'd still have it, but since he plays 5 Rainbow shows a year, maybe he doesn't care much?

Jimmy Page tarnished his reputation by going sky high on heroin on stage. Whole he was never a super clean player much of his reputation stems from these incidents where he couldn't find a single note. Richie was never that guy and it hurts to see him damage his image buy doing these shows. He almost stopped playing during the Burn riff. It's just embarrassing. I don't want to see my hero this way.

This is not bad in and of itself. Problem is we remember when Ritchie was a raving ball of fire onstage. A streaming comet blazing across the sky. Literally setting the stage on fire. We watch him now in that context and are disappointed because he doesn’t play that way anymore. Well he’s well over 70 and feeling the effects of age. Cut Ritchie some slack and be happy you still get a chance to hear him play the old songs.

All I have to say is " without DIO Rainbow is just a shadow" Listen to stargazer sung by Ronnie or Gates of babylon or man on a silver mountain . DIO was the power.

Right? There's a reason why Dio is considered the most best vocalist in heavy metal, this singer is good though... But Dio isn't only the the original vocalist, not o only the best by far, he's the main composer of the best songs that rainbow have... Nothing extraordinary came out of rainbow without Dio composing his fantasy songs... Stargazer, Gates of Babylon, Light in the Black etc...

It isn't great, but it is pretty good, considering. Twenty-plus years of rarely playing the Strat. He does have some arthritis setting in and he has had some finger problems in the past, if I'm not mistaken. A lot of the older players mentioned here have never stopped playing the electric guitar so they haven't lost much of that strength and dexterity in their hands over the years. Age and attrition is different for everyone. Blackers may have lost some over the years, but it is still nice to see him get out and play while he still can.

Wow...just painful. I just listened to my Difficult to Cure CD recently too and this sounds like half speed. Not saying that it was all bad but it wasn't great either. One just is amazed he didn't grab Joe Lynn Turner for this. Why go with these unknowns? Some bands know when it's over. Rush for example bowed out before it got sad. Ritchie's ex-bandmates in Purple are set on retiring after this next tour as well. He should take a cue from them. The reunion we all wanted years ago ain't happening and Jon's dead so, ya know..."it's over Johnny".

I saw them September 2018 and yes they were fantastic, which is an achievement considering they followed Judas Priest and were not upstaged in any way by the incredible Priest light-show and aural onslaught. DP has it in spades over this version of "Rainbow." But glad to see RB seemingly doing the best he can and keeping active.

Blind Gillan fanboys can claim any bullshit they want but last time Gillan sounded great was in 1970’s Last three decades he has been pretty good at his best and horrible at his worst which is often. And when Gillan had his usual offnight the fanboys are quickly to use their fave excuse ’’Gillan had cold’’ Looks like Gillan has had chronic cold since early 80's

How good Ritchie is, even at 73!!! For me, despite the different world ratings, Ritchie Blackmore's guitarist is No. 1! After all, no one has ever counted or taken into account how many musicians he discovered or how many stars grew up with him! And I mean all areas of activity, these are soloists, bass guitarists, keyboardists! The latest example of this is the magnificent soloist Ronnie Romero! It is clear that Ritchie missed rock, he still lights up, there is a lot of improvisation and changes in his game and they are all successful, interesting, great! I was very pleased with the acoustic guitar playing in the song Soldier of Fortune! Bravo maestro, I really want to continue listening and seeing you!

Thanks for uploading this. I'm a big Blackmore fan, but he seems really like he has no desire to be there. Also about half the time it sounds like the volume control on his guitar isn't on very much and the front of house mixer is trying to compensate.

Hmmm...lot of negative comments here (but I notice in the extreme minority). Ritchie Blackmore as always is amazing & kudios to Ronnie Romero and the rest of the crew. This IS Rainbow....honestly for the critics, I would challenge any of them to go up on stage and do better, guaranteed doubtful...
