The brand new Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle all-inclusive resort in Jamaica officially opened on May 4, 2024, and we were there for opening weekend. This is a early morning walkthrough of the resort's full grounds so you can check out what to expect before arriving.

Thanks for watching! I think the ocean view junior suites are in the tower facing the beach directly. Should be nice! We posted a walkthrough of a junior suite partial ocean view if you want to check it out. Should be very similar if not the same floorplan minus the view

Nice. I'll be taking the Mrs for our anniversary in July. Thought about booking the pool rooms, but I don't like how there's no privacy. Quick question: Do they have a place where we can sign up for an excursion of some sort?

You are right on the pool rooms. The upgraded pool rooms with the ocean view might be a good option - they are elevated up on second level. They look cool at night with the lights they have on those. And there is a tour representative desk located right by the elevators. Have so much fun!

Going at the end of the month, nice steady camera work, do they have umbrellas for the beach lounges, I see the trees are young and really dont provide much shade at high noon, Im fair skinned and burn easily. Working on my base tan now!!

Thank you so much! Unfortunately they do not have any umbrellas for the beach chairs and you are right the trees don't provide much yet. They do have umbrellas at the pool, plus the covered shades that go over large sections. I'm in the same pale boat, could only lay on the beach for a while before I had to move to the shade at the pool.

If it's a new hotel, I think the trees were just planted, which is why they are not providing enough shade yet. From this video, I can tell there will be plenty of shade from the number of palm trees I am seeing on the beach

Just stumbled on your page. LOVE your content! Taking my 33rd (yep!) trip to Jamaica with my fiancé in August & debating between this RIu & Couples tower isle. Which did you like better?

Ahh thank you so much! Ooh that is a tough choice.. they’re SO different! Depends on what you’re into. We’ve stayed at a lot of Rius and this one.. felt like a Riu! Super modern and luxe if interiors are important. Beach was better/less rocks. But definitely a more vibrant/loud crowd that leans younger. Couples TI we thought was so unique because of all of the excursions included and of course the nude island! Crowd was 50s+ and seemed to be repeat visitors. Super quiet resort- felt more like a hotel than a resort. Downside is room interiors are super dated and worn versus the modern luxe aesthetic at Riu. But we don’t care about it the room we stay in. I would say if you are going for a longer trip and want activities plus would enjoy the nude island go to Couples and if you’re going for a shorter trip and care about design then Riu!

I stayed at RIU in Punta Cana They didn't require resturant reservations, the website says they are, do they require reservations as well as the dress code?

The dress code at the restaurants currently just says appropriate attire. My bf wore polo, nice shirts or jeans, and sandals. The a la carte restaurants do require reservations - Kyoto, steakhouse, Krystal, and the Asian restaurant. Sports bar and buffet do not. I recommend doing those in the app as soon as you arrive. They went fast and some restaurants weren’t open on certain days

Nice vid, thanks. I saw them raking seaweed on the beach. Would you say the beach had a "sargassum" problem? Was it built up in the water that made swimming challenging in any way? When I went to Mexico once, the beach was not really useable because of how much seaweed there was in the water and on the sand.

I know what you mean- Mexico has been plagued with sargassum over the last few years and most of the beaches have become unusable. Our experience at Riu in Jamaica was not like that at all. It seemed more like normal sea grass getting raked up daily. And there was more after rain/storms came through but the hotel was on it. However, we went before the Caribbean’s traditional sargassum season, so I’m not sure what it’s like June-Nov.

Hi! It was not rocky and the sand is very fine. Just a couple random rocks when you get deeper. We brought our water shoes but did not wear them.

Hi Sophia, yep! There are full size liquor bottles in room, coffee supplies, and mini bar has waters, sodas, and a few beers (no snacks). We had free wifi throughout the property thought it would cut on and off when we went to dead zones like the elevator.

There is nightly entertainment! I don’t know of themed days, but, they are still getting everything launched. I think in a few weeks they will have a lot more daily activities available

Yes! Pepe’s is by the pool/beach and open from 12-3. The jerk chicken was really good! Also had jerk chicken and pork at the buffet.

Hi, depends on what you're looking for. It's set on a nice beach about 40 minutes from the Montego Bay airport. We stay on the resort so fine with that location. But if you are going off resort to explore, see local sights, etc isn't really around anything. If you want to be close to adventure/excursions you may want to be more in Ocho Rios

In the scheme of all inclusives, overall I find Rius to be more affordable. We paid $329/night for the entry level junior suite on this trip. A lot lower than what I was seeing other Jamaica resorts going for
