Rival Schools is one of those games where dispite its graphics, the gameplay, combos and fun factor quickly overtook the sheer enjoyment! Its DC sequel would give it much shine, but the gameplay was STILL SOLID!

I agree. Unfortunately if they brought either game back they would not be super popular with the masses. Im pretty sure there are many many people who dont even know about either game….especially Dark Stalkers aka Vampire Savior, even with Morrigan in the Marvel vs Capcom games. I have a version of Dark Stalkers on PS4. You can get it in the store.

Been waiting almost 20 years for anything Rival Schools. You can say this game made an impact on me during my adolescent years. Capcom really doesn't understand how much some of these franchise mean to their fans. I really hope they're starting to understand that now.

This game hit me in my prime as a gamer. I spent hundreds of hours. It was a crush at the same level as SF2, Super Mario Kart, FFVII and MGS. I unlocked everything the game had to offer. I have never find a versus game so fun and with a cohesive, complex and interesting history. You don't know how much you get involved when you really cared about the characters you played with.

Rival Schools & Darkstalkers where my favorites from Capcom. Cyberbots was another one. Those awesome character designs by Edayan quickly put him at the top of my list of favorite Capcom artists. Kyoko was my favorite. 😋 The relatable cast of high school students and faculty and their stories struck a chord with me at the time. I imported the Dreamcast sequel, "Moero! Justice Gakuen", years later & loved it even more with the board game mode.

My first time playing this was a friend brought over a burned copy we had to rig on the ps to play. A few weeks later, I found the actual game and bought it and played it religiously to unlock everything. After that, the dreamcast came and I bought Project Justice. And Tatsunoko x Capcom for the Wii. Never knew about the other Rival Schools games. Sucks they never got overseas releases.

Absolutely one of my favourite 1 on 1 fighting games. The biggest draw for me is being able to move in and out of the environment, which really is a great way to put the 3D to use. Personally - I much preferred the Rival Schools on the PS1 than the Dreamcast version. The Dreamcast version; I felt that the animations where a little stiffer and the gameplay not as fluid for some reason. Still, a great game nonetheless.

Wow, I did not hear about Akira getting into Street Fighter V. Probably the most unexpected thing they could have done. Also, making a documentary of this is pretty awesome. Ah.... Kaiotsuki, Kaiyoko and Diago are my favorites. Also, I would say Tatsunoko is not "weeb" at all. The type of people those series were made for are as mainstream as Poke'mon and Dragon Ball , maybe even more mainstream than Dragon Ball Z. Most "weebs" want to look cool and a lot of Tatsunoko is more similar to western cartoons.

I still have my PS1 copy of Rival Schools. Love it. BUT the annoying thing is various magazines at the time claimed that the character creation could be unlocked by getting S ranks on the challenge mode (I forget the mode's actual name). I worked my ass off for perfect grades on everything. No character creation. Lying bastards! I'm still considering getting a Japanese copy.

If I was capcom I would punch every one in tatsunoko that was asking and pushing the idea of making a game with them. If everything u said was right then it was a total shiitty deal. And they cant even sell their own game today... Only way is to homebrew wii and download it ilegally to play this one... I think they should kick all tatsunoko characters and references out of the game and invite other capcom champions and remake the game and release it for every console and pc. Since nobody played it and it can't be so hard since they are 80% finished already. And its wii graphics not even half as hard as todays 500.5043278793 poligons character. And it still looks good with this graphic today. And maybe make some new modes, and great single player content kind of like Injustice 2 or atleast a big world to go through stages as Soul Calibur 2. Because fighting games are so fking boring today there is 0000 single player content and all char's is always unlocked so not even arcade modes are funny to play today. I think they could do this easy within a month as they can release a new resident evil game every year. It would totally bring alot of peoples to play it. And maybe release it for Free2play and take money only for skins/icons same as League of Legends. Or 10$ or something. I think peoples would love it tell their friends to play with them. And experiment like make clans/gangs and ranked matches with ur friends. And invite obscure capcom characters megaman bosses or from their other not famous games. It would make ppls check out their other franchises and maybe buy more games. Man I wish I was a game developer I would totaly make 100 times better fighting games, 2D platformers, Dota, Strategic online games, MMO's. And I would make 1000.000 times better cartoon movies then these shitty ones thats released today. It seems like peoples are out of good ideas today or that hey became brain dead from all these radiation EMF from all phones and wifi's. Or maybe it's the GMO man made frankenstein "food" thats totally messed up. I feel sorry for the world and peoples that grow up today. They missed the no internet, no mobile phones Era. Also missed the NES, SNES, PS1, Tamagoshi Era. All who's born after 2000 I feel really sorry for u guys. U never experienced REAL life without internet. Im really happy to be born 91 so I atleast had epic childhood and PIMPED over 100 girls in 5 years when internet was new :D Sweden had the best community called Lunarstorm it was 200 times better then Facebook all was equal there. No likes on pictures. No algorythm. No censorship. Easy girls that looked really good and didnt sit with their phones 24/7. The world have changed so fast these last 30 years. I cant keep up any more. And all are "want to be popular/get many likes" hungry. So even me that hates this shiit sometimes feel like "maayn I also want more likes on facebook so peoples dont think im fake or have no friends or something". Thats totally fucced up. They should bann all algorythms and all likes/dislikes systems before more peoples are taking suicide to get rid of this shiit. (No I will never make suicide, its against my religion) but it must totally be 100 times worse to get nobbed for childrens in school. or be called fat etc. Before u could atleast relax when u was home. Now it just keep spreading on the internet so ALL CAN SEE. Maybe a girl do something wrong, or just falling or something and some1 take a film/photo of her/him n upload it on social media. All her classmates and whole school commenting "what a trash, whore, bi'ttch, its good this happend" maayn families have 2000 time more chance to break up these latest 20 years then before. I couldnt even have a family togheter for 11 years. My mom broke and destroyed our family and went on internet & started talking with random men's. This would not happen 50 years ago since she didnt have many friends so she was mostly with me and my sister/brother and father. I dont think this will change but it has totally made my life really shitty and depression the 8 recent years. I get maybe 1 like when I upload a new photo and others get 20.000 likes. I havent even heard "You are beutiful" for 10 years. And I look GOOD I am sexy I am a rapper I have good pictures. I cant imagine how it feels for someone that look worse or maybe have a problem, or being fat etc feels. I wish you all well and ur videos is great so much nostalgia and remeneccing on the good times
