Actually the last Disney film to be completely hand drawn and released to theaters was Winnie the Pooh from 2011. And in between treasure planet and winnie the pooh Disney also released Brother Bear, Home on the Range, and Princess and the Frog. Treasure Planet wasn’t even completely hand drawn, it had a lot of cgi.

The first Despicable Me is a genuinely good film. The problem with the Despicable Me franchise later on and Illumination Entertainment as a whole is that they really started milking the Minions for all they're worth. Better as side characters than the main focus. Their other movies (The Grinch, The Lorax, Sing, etc.) don't feel like they're breaking much ground but that's just my opinion

Despicable Me was a movie which, at the time, looked like it shouldn't be anything special. But somehow what we got was a really heartfelt and goofy family comedy. I was definitely past the target demographic for it when it came out, but I ended up loving it a lot. The sequels, while definitely leaning more heavily into the marketing aspect of filmmaking, are pretty alright too.
