He's a earth/rock themed character who prefers fighting/falling in the sky. A piece of rock falling in the sky is a meteor which is why he has an insane amount of "spikes" or "meteor" attacks.

shovel knight and shantae have both appeared as guest characters in several games. in blaster master they were both dlc characters. Shovel knight is already in 2 fighting games while shantae hasn't been in one yet. i think the only reason shovel knight isn't playable in smash is because sakurai chose shantae instead because of her history with Nintendo. i think she will be revealed soon. Still, it would've been awesome to see him playable in smash as he's sort of an indie icon.

He has no proof but he explained the evidence for his speculation. Shovel Knight is a bit overserved in the guest character arena and Shantae is underserved. Based on that he's made the assumption that Shovel Knight getting guest status in Ultimate suggest Shantae might be getting the character slot instead. It's just speculation but there's some reason behind it.

The creativity of the Rivals team never ceases to amaze me. Being able to open a shop screen in the middle of a match? Being able to fish 🎣 🐠 in the middle of a match? Insane. Perfect pick for the last third party character. So nice. 👌

No wonder they took so long with this one. He's about as overloaded as Elliana, but in a good way i believe. He's also just incredibly creative and respectful to the game he's from. I swear that if nintendo had made him playable, they would have never taken it this far. Huge kudos to Dan for the awesome game and love letter to fans of a character that didn't make it to smash as a character, but deserves every other form of respect here.
