What is the handlebar set up?

Hey matey - What is the mounting system that you are using for your Carradice bag on your handlebars? I have a Longflap Camper and sometimes mounting it to the bike can be challenging depending on what I am doing...

It is an old Nitto Saddlebag Grip R50 I had laying about. I jury rigged it onto the handlebar with p-clamps but because it was weirdly cantilevered off the stem faceplate it bent a bit with a heavy camping load in it. There are probably better homebrew solutions. I'm using a Jack the bike Rack atm but it has similar weight restrictions. Here is a close up pic on instagram: instagram.com/p/CpUqOWNy7Fu/

Fun video! My wife and I are currently looking into Riv bikes, and we are so confused by the differences between the models. What’s the major difference between the Appaloosa and the Sam/AHH?

In the current line up, the Appaloosa is the heavier duty bike, meant for touring and heavier loads and has clearance for (slightly) wider tyres. The Sam and AHH are almost the same bike functionally, slightly lighter tubing, slightly less tyre clearance. the differences are mostly aesthetic but the Homer has sidepull brakes and the Sam has canti posts. There isn't really any more to it than that, let colour and availability be the real deciding factor. If you are carrying loads off road the Atlantis or Appaloosa are better picks with 55mm tyre clearance although you can still squeeze 50mmm tyres on the lighter bikes in my experience. It irks me that it has been over a year since they pulled down their Geo charts to 'update them' but a quick google search will net you the old ones that I believe are still reasonably accurate. I hope that helped. I am not a riv employee!

Do you feel any more or less confident on trails compared to a Susie?

I am a lot more confident on the Susie just in general with its slack headtube and looong wheelbase. The Appa has much more road touring geo and is plenty stable on trails like in this video but you naturally have a bit more weight on the front wheel so the Susie is far superior for loose/soft ground and singletrack.
