River Brosna Pollution Mullingar 2024

Once again The river Brosna in Mullingar has suffered a serious Oil related pollution . Video footage was taken today and this evening .
Environmental awareness groups had been campaigning for filters to be fitted at a pipe that is going into the River Brosna at Austin Friars Car Park.
In 2019 the River Brosna suffered a major polution of Heating oil for several months .
Now again in May 2024 , we see the same thing happen. Environment Westmeath County Council

The whole area stretching around Castle Street to spoutwell Lane and harbour street have many underground springs .
So If oil seeps into the ground it is brought into the water table very quickly, thus we have a pipe going into the brosna which is carrying the polluted water .
