River Fishing For Roach & Dace - Quivertip Silvers!
For this latest episode we took the camera's down to our local river wensum to try and target a few silver fish! Inspired by the legend John Wilson, who is sadly no longer with us, we aimed to try and catch a few Roach.
Armed with a few maggots, a loaf of bread and with only a few hours on our hands, here's how we got on...
As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

nice little session, perfect for a cold winters day. I'm not the only one struggling to distinguish roach from dace until they're in my hand! they were lovely deep bodied dace. lovely.

Nice video and a post to John Wilson. I was lucky enough to be able to fish the Wensum in the 60s and 70s. To some extent I don't think we appreciiated what we had a lot of the time. I was a member of the old Wensum Fisheries at Taverham. An Autumn Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning would always be a net of 12 or 15lbs which would include Dace to 8oz, Roach to a 1lb and maybe a dozen Grayling. That was the time, if I remember , when the chub started to show and Cormorants lived offshore. Lovely days.

I can relate to your comments about the deceased J Wilson. I was sea fishing once on a boat. Not a pleasant man who thought everyone was there for his benefit. Very arrogant and not such a good angler as he thought he was. Sad loss for family tho.

paraffinalien we have otters on ribble roach n dace seem ok but chub n barbel have sufferd from ethnic groups on lower stretches and cormrants on upper reaches done some damage to the big dace n roach ,seems only salmon stretches with heavy keepers are on the ball people forget you have to have an apex to eat an apex n we dont so to meny otters is not good esp for birds like merganser n greabs

What are your thoughts on the environment agency in Norwich Norfolk area? This is abbit of an old video I know but it’s not just otters we’re worried about now on the lower wensum we have seals and the environment agency won’t do anything about it 😂
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Callum, I'm not too sure to be honest... It's a tough one... I did hear there was a seal in the Wensum though. Haha! (As if the fish need any more predators.)

Hi Larsen, we were using an Advanta RVS Twin Tip Lite rod. It comes supplied with three tips 0.5oz, 1oz and 2oz, we were using the 1oz tip. Weight of the feeder was 30g (small or mini) I think! I use bait the size of the fish you are catching here in the states catch fish 12- 20 lbs.

So do we Alvin, fish of that size are what we'd use for big Pike! They're just a smaller species here in the UK. I'm sure in the states you have Crappie and Bluegill don't you? As a smaller species? Hope you're fishing is going well! :-)
