Big Roach On The River - Pole Feeder Fishing!
For this latest episode we headed to the tidal river Yare to try and target a few big Roach on the pole feeder.
Now the pole feeder isn't a method for everyone, in-fact it was never really a method for Steve, that was until he spoke to our good friend Wayne Anderson.
Wayne, who fishes the river regularly and who's been crowned King Of The Yare on more than one occasion, had been fishing the pole feeder but not in its traditional sense, he tweaked the method to make it even better.
After a quick chat with Wayne, soaking up all his information like a sponge (in fishing you can never stop learning!) we headed down to the river to put all he’d told us into practice.
To find out exactly how we got on and to perhaps find out a few tips along the way, watch this latest installment, from the waters edge.
As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

Thoroughly enjoyed that going to the broads in a few weeks boating holiday. Just wondered why you would use a quiver tip end section rings an all rather than say a flick tip.
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to comment Alex, glad you enjoyed it. :-) You get slightly better bite detection and it seems an easier way to fish it. A standard Pole Feeder fishing set-up would work, but the lads on the Yare have had a lot more success this way. It's certainly 'different'! Thanks again.

Great video! I would also like to try it. What did you take for an antenna as a bite indicator, hollow antenna or solid material? And how thick should it be 3 - 5mm? I would be happy about an answer, thank you and all the best. TOM

Hi Tom, thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video! The bite indicator was the top from an old insert waggler. If you google 'insert wagers' you should see what we mean. (I think it was from a Drennan Float too.) Hope that helps.

Hello mate, how are you? may i ask your advice on what rod should i take? im looking for a strong beachcaster rod that can handle 150 to 200 grams wieghts and can cast mroe than 100 metres. im from argentina an over there seas are more hard to fish. its roughter and you need to cast at least 100 metres to get a fish, thats why im looking for a od that can handle weights but still has sensitive tip. hope you can help me with this! Kind regards, Santiago
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Santiago, the rods I use are Greys GRX-s beach rods, however there's lots of good one's on the market, especially from the likes of Daiwa, Sonik and Shimano etc It depends on what length you are looking for too, as in Europe the long rods 15-16ft have now become quite popular.

Very nice roach fishing, you got some clonkers there. Couple of questions. Why is the pole feeder any better than a traditional running line feeder? and is this stretch of the Yare free to fish or privately controlled? Thanks.
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 7 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for taking the time to comment too. This particular stretch of the Yare is open to fish, however there is a price for a day ticket. There's also alot of matches on the stretch, especially at weekends. The pole feeder is just more accurate, you can only use it when conditions are spot on, if not you would have to use a running line.

why fish a feeder on the pole?

Just because the deep water and fish are close in on this stretch on that tide, so it allows you too. It's such a accurate way of fishing and sensitive too - when you get the smallest little rattle you're so direct on the strike too.
