Great to see you fishing the Lea..I learnt as a kid at Enfield Lock with the background noise of weapons testing at the Ordnance factory (now a housing estate). I’ve not fished the section you were on in this vid but have seen double figure carp cruising down the cut there!

Last week i had a Stone Loach out of the river Lea around Stratford. So that shows how well the water Quality has become. Hope your well Andy.

What a lovely video and so encouraging to see urban waterways providing good sport. I have recently retired and am trying to find things to do to fill my day. I fished as a lad, and I live close to the Olympic park. I might follow in your footsteps! Keep up the videos, they are great viewing. All the best.

Hi Simon, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. The Lea is a tough old river especially in London but there are some good perch and pike in there when you can find them! Best of luck with your angling, and do let us know how you get on! 👍😁🎣

I work round there and used to have evenings like this regularly. It gets a bit busy with walkers which is my only criticism. But along that stretch by the weir pool I saw a perch well over 3lb just sitting in the margins. Wish I had my rod at the time lol.

Those little Perch always scrap well on a light spinner rig. Used to have a few decent ones out of my local River Frays using the cheapest one available, the Mackerel spinner - Guess the red beads at the end and the rotating silver centre simulated a small roach
@TheBudgetAngler3 жыл бұрын
Mackerel spinners are fab little lures! I got a perch on one when I was a kid, I think that might make a good video actually!Thanks for taking the time and watch and comment! 🎣👍😃😃🎣👍

Nice one Andy, good to see plenty of Perch coming out on that stretch, ive fished the river over the back a couple of times this year and keep getting smashed up by trout.
@TheBudgetAngler3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andy, yeah I saw a big trout under the wooden bridge by the weir, and I've bumped into a couple of my subs round there, they had trout and grayling there, it's a really good sign for the river! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment as always mate! I 🎣😀👍

Just taken early retirement and have dug out some of my old fishing gear and intend roving fishing on my bike along the Lea from my home in North Chingford. I watched several of your videos which are great and wondered what landing net and handle you are using. I want to get something similar that is easy to pack away and carry on the bike. I have a telescopic rod so all good on that front. Keep up the content.
@TheBudgetAngler3 жыл бұрын
Excellent! You'll have a lot of fun on that stretch of the Lea. I use the spro free style 4m telescopic, it's not super cheap but it's very compact when folded! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍😀🎣

Great videos these Andy. Really enjoy watching. Had a couple of sessions on dobbs weir recently but hit blanks. Can you recommend any other stretches of the upper Lea?
@TheBudgetAngler2 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, thanks for watching and commenting, the Lea is really hard in cold weather. Anywhere north of Dobbs will produce on the right day, with the right method, I like lure fishing the Canal in Hertford in autumn. I must admit I swerve the Lea until summer 👍🎣😀

top stuff andy mate, glad to see the lea as buzzing as it use to be, i feel a barbel session down there coming soon might have to bike it down since im now geared for it, did some bream over blackwall basin at the weekend was slow start but did ok towards the end of day much respect bro ;)

Thanks nemzi, appreciate it, there are some cracking fish to be had in the old Lea, if you can bag a barbel, you're doing well! Nice work for getting down the docks, I understand it's fishing quite hard at moment! Thanks for taking the time and watch and comment! 🎣👍😃

@TheBudgetAngler3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, thanks very much, I must say I rarely use cheese, it's just not something I've tried that much. I have used cheese paste for winter chub, but I seemed to get trout on it! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍😀🎣
