River or Waterfall on the Train Layout?

We have been trying to decide whether we are going to put a river or a waterfall in this section of the train layout, and we finally decided. Can you spot the guest in our thumbnail? Let us know what you find in the comments!

We thought about it, but there's not enough depth there to do it. The previous cutout we chopped up to make this was much taller and looked out of place on our layout. I think we can blend this one in a lot better.

In some places, you see both together, so it doesn't have to be one or the other. I have a better idea. Why not use up the ground level space, by putting in a lake with a water-jet fountain in the middle? It's something you might see in a theme park, and I think it would look more magical.

There really isn't room to change the layout plan because we have a firehouse and street that go around that area, and the water flows to the outer part of the layout. There are a lot of things we could do if we had more space, but it's a challenge to try and fit in everything in this small area. A river will flow out of the backdrop to small waterfalls at this section we completed, and the river is going to flow through town and pass through to an outer portion near the edge of the layout.
