I still miss her so much, she will always be my favorite Doctor Who character of all time! I so wish they could have found a way of either doing a spin off of her own adventures or figure out a way of her coming back to life somehow, maybe even just a River Song from an alternate universe, just as long as it was Alex Kingston playing her, that is! Alex is what made River Song so special, with of course the writing of Steven Moffat! I think I will always be grateful to Moffat just for bringing us River Song, if for nothing else!

I like to think that somewhere during Heaven Sent/Hell Bent, the 12th Doctor realized 'This is how River felt when she knew I had to die.', and that gave him the strength to fight so hard for Clara.

I think he realised it (that she has to die and nothing can be changed) the first time he saw her after the Library and than realisation was just getting stronger and stronger ever time he saw her as he was getting to know her better and better. But maybe in a point that with Clara it was like for the River a really short time for him to understand that he cannot change her death, with River he just got used to that thought, because he had enough time for this
