It's kinda like being on rollerskates on a convayorbelt! Surfing in the ocean is on a dymamic water surface! A statatic wave is laim!!!

Yes, depending on River flow, they can adjust the angle of the ramp to create ideal waves for surfing, kayaking, etc.

Did ya pick up any tips for riding standing waves?.never tried a river wave..looks heavy, so much concrete around I think i would be wearing full skate pads and helmet.

Not really, Its so different from ocean surfing and yeah there is a lot of super sketchy things about it like getting your leash caught on a rock and not being able to surface or this one guy fell on the metal plates underneath and broke his collar bone.... kinda gnarly

If you ride regular it’s usually easier to get on the wave from the other side (river right)
