I was the Blue player on that map. I have only been playing the Risk Global Dom game for a few days, but have played plenty of other forms of Risk. Some of my weird moves were because I was worried 'you' were going to play for second and kill me! (Other bad moves were because I'm bad) Once I figured we were buds, I tried to just sac into Orange and play for second. The map wasn't my cup of tea either. My entire game was more-or-less "take a card, then fortify", so I was getting antsy to move on to the next by the end of it.

Good game! Nice to hear your insight. For a player new to the online game, I was impressed with your play and recognition of working together. That was the biggest concept that felt different from board game play back when I used to play with my friends. And you're totally right, it's a pretty bad map, so I appreciate you taking the initiative in weakening orange. I was going to be willing to smack him since we had the block set up nicely, but you went first so I was for sure going to give you second.

@@C_money Good game! Yeah, the "diplomacy" part of the game is way different in-person vs. in this game. The reason I aggressed you early-mid, and thought about a few other times, is because I thought it was mostly over when Orange took over the left side, so maybe I could just speed it along. Once I saw the card block opportunity (again, I'm a bit slow!), and how passive Orange was being, I wanted to give it a go.

That was the best game possible in these settings on this terrible map with your spawn. Your patience and creativity in negotiation with blue was impressive -- shows just how important it is to have an ally in this situation. Terrible maps do tend to attract not the best players, but I wouldn't want to play them on that basis. An opponent doesn't have to be good to ruin your game on this map. That's true on any map, but here there is no time and space to build up a solid position and use good neighbour whilst you look for expansion opportunities and kills. People have to immediately smack stacks to get a card, which tends to torpedo good neighbour with less experienced players, and there is no room to expand without going to war immediately, so it's a very spawn-dependent map. Frankly, I think that with some of these smaller maps you kinda need to lose 1-2 players to allow them to breathe freely. They're simply too small to have a reasonable game on with 6 players, especially with blizzards. This map still has the fatal flaw of half of the map being a 1 point hold from 1 of 4 territories, so it's not likely to be good anyhow, but a smaller player count might be better for its playability.

Smaller player count certainly reduces the amount of unnecessary slapping for sure. Although, Tier List Tuesday is intended to showcase each map with a full 6 players, so I'm sure if I was playing different settings I might think of it differently.

​@@C_money I get what you're doing with the series with ranking the maps simply based off of this one set of settings. I'm just saying that the maps would likely be more enjoyable/playable with different settings. Even at peak performance this map kinda is a dud though. Maps like Command Base C1X ought to be a 7 or 8 player map, and ones like this and Simple world probably are made for 3-4 players in mind.

Also, that was some pretty nice finagling you two did to manage to demote Orange from 1st to 3rd. Simply mad that it worked.

For blue it is pretty difficult to block if orange get more troops than a trade a turn as long as orange does not mess up. And blue could have thought that you would kill them and take 2nd. If he blocked at the point were he could.

I'd be able to see how many troops blue was committing if he contributed to the block and also how many troops orange brings off cap (if he did more than once). We still get to trade cards behind his block in that scenario. In the way this played out, blue couldn't see anything placed/brought off cap unless I moved my stack and let orange in. Once the trades were high, blue definitely could've assisted, but he was playing for 2nd anyway so I don't think it mattered.

I hate this map. Me and another player managed to take over each Side at relatively the same time, I had him blocked at the bridge, so I had a few extra troops. The person stalled the turns. I was slow rolling his stack, until I accidentally hit blitz and lost.

Yeah it's a tough one. Happy with the game I was able to get but certainly don't recommend it.

I actually somewhat like this map, it does set up for alliances with other players without having alliances on in the game which i prefer. I hate having allianes on because i feel like such an asshole when i end up having to betray the person im in an alliance with, because you are supposed to work together but people use alliances in a very different way in the game, most people use it to put the person you are allied with in a bad position and hit things you dont want to hit. For example they say "hit orange, hit orange" then they clear like 2 x 1s of orange that is not in oranges bonus, your turn comes around and if you hit orange you just made an enemy. People who are good at the game uses this tactic against lesser experienced players to make orange mad at them, because they dont know. I really dont like that aspect of alliances and its like a bit like cheating if you ask me.

Totally understand what you mean about the alliances. As far as the map itself, I'm glad the half-map counterplay worked in this instance, but orange easily wins this game if red plays smarter and gives me more trouble. I think this map is pretty bad and will produce bad games like 7 out of 10 times.

can you talk more about the game phases bar at the bottom of the screen? yesterday's video was quite educational on that front. I realized that I never paid attention to it. It'd be great to tell when a player places troops or when they attack a big stack or they attack with only 2 dices.
