Is this the future of tin whistles? I'm not sure but it might be the future of mass-produced tin whistles anyway - here I'm playing a soprano (high) D, an alto (low) G, and a low D whistle from River Whistles, all 3D printed.

Nice review. I was pleasantly surprised with the Alto G. Something really unique about the tone; nice depth and richness to it. Would love to hear you review some of the Goldfinch whistles if you haven't done so yet. They're an affordable option across their product line and Jakub is a great guy to work with!

It appears as if my first comment isn't showing up. Anyway, according to the website, the price varies from 30 bucks (high D) to 200 (low D)

Another interesting and worthwhile video. The site has really developed over the years. My question: Is the carbony whistle really worth the money considering the other whistles in that price range (eg, Sindt or Burke or Goldie)? I recognize the place for the Carbony small hands low D; but the rest of the line? I also understand someone is working on a 3D printed flute. But I have not heard one reviewed yet. Whatever you choose to post, I'll be checking back.

I've got two "qwistles", 3d printed, in high D and low D (on the low D only the mouthpiece is 3d printed). The low D is probably the best sounding low D I ever played. Unfortunately they are no longer made. Edit: I think they became available again. So it seems the maker, Donald WG Lindsay is back from his sabbatical.

Could you possibly do a review on Waltons Whistles....... Maybe the difference between the D and the mellow D might be an interesting one....... I see you have covered all the other well known whistles in that price range and just thought that Waltons would be an interesting addition as they range from £6 to £9 they are possibly the cheapest well known whistles I have come across 😊

I am slowly warming up to 3D printing as I seemore of it. Seems like these are decent, too. I've only got a couple 'toy' whistles that I sometimes play, as im still learning the flute, but these sound a lot better than the ones I have... of course it may be that I need to play whistle more often to help that out!😂

I have a Warble. I love it. It takes a little bit of getting use to “but not much” then it is wonderful. It’s obviously not a true tin whistle, but I found it to be surprisingly close. You can play anytime day or night without disturbing anyone. On my MacBook with headphones it sounds nice, and there are many adjustments that can be made with the sound and key. I hesitated for ages before buying one, but wished I hadn’t. Plus Andrew the guy that makes them seems a super nice and helpful guy.

These whistles have their charm, that's for sure! I haven't seen many people playing a wooden Irish whistle. Is there a reason for that?
@Tremendouz
@Tremendouz Жыл бұрын
Wooden instruments tend to be higher maintenance than plastic or metal. They might crack if exposed to unsuitable conditions. That would be my main reason for not getting a wooden whistle, plus the ones that exist seem to generally be quite expensive.
