First Season: Good, Interesting Enough considering this is a teen drama... Second Season: Was OK, Mediocre at Best... Third Season: Bad, the plot was terrible... Fourth Season: WTF?? Fifth Season: Had so much potential, they were doing really good and I generally enjoyed it ... till they bought in the alien plot line and started pairing up toxic ships and relationships already shown to not a good pairings again. (Looking at you, Bughead and Varchie) I've honestly given up at this point...

The episode about Hiram's backstory is literally the best thing Riverdale has ever done. Too bad they can't do that all the time. Also, despite Cole Sprouse being inarguably the most popular part of the show, it actually gets immensely better when Jughead isn't there (as seen in the most recent episode, "Reservoir Dogs"). It doesn't bode well for the show when the best episodes don't involve the main cast or breakout star at all.

I straight up fell off my couch laughing because of Alex’s breakdown about the gospel number with Penelope Blossom. And yeah, I remember watching the original season of Riverdale and I was pretty interested by the whole high school murder mystery plot with comic characters (not here for the erasure of aroace Jughead though), and I even thought season 2 was kinda interesting with Cheryl’s development… and then the show just went insanely downhill. The musical episodes, screwing all characters of any redeeming qualities, just trying to push Riverdale into being a show that’s only on for sex appeal and to make fun of. It’s why I tend to stick to animated shows nowadays, because a lot of them have more mature themes and LGBT+ rep while Riverdale is just… the LGBT+ rep isn’t even LGBT+ rep. Cheryl and Toni broke up and Cheryl’s now got her weird thing with Minerva, Toni is the surrogate mom for Kevin’s kid and is now just… gonna raise the kid because I guess screw Toni having her own character anymore, and we are not about to count the serial killer gays as rep because come ON.

Meanwhile there’s anime that has fantastic LGBT+, and I’m pretty sure if One Piece can manage to go on for like 800 episodes and have as much variety as it does, then people writing these trashy dramas can have some realistic characters who aren’t decent one second and then suddenly garbage the next.

And not to mention it like super long and probably just the same thing each episode! But anime is like so diverse and they have something for everyone. I tryed to get that same friend to watch some of my favorite animes and she did want to. Instead see re-watched something she seen like a hundred times aready.

At its core, Riverdale was about this town that's been corrupted and the characters are struggling to live their lives in. That still hasn't changed and likely won't. The only thing that's keeping some viewers invested are the characters.
