Yeah I read that version too. then, i saw a video of the band. i think it was on Myx. and apparently this Batangas-Balisong version is "accurate" they even teased Rico because of the lyrics "your face lights up the sky on the highway". it seemed like the lyrics was written because as they were on the van/car where Rico Blanco was writing the song a billboard of KC was right there (though the name was never mentioned but it was somewhat implied, along with the billboard)

From what I've read somewhere here in KZbin, this was written by Rico for KC as a pasalubong. Rico was headed for Batangas and KC asked him for a balisong (the knife). Apparently, he wasn't able to get any so he made her a song entitled Balisong. Dunno if it's true but I think it's sweet.

i think it is. i read somewhere that it was meant to be Bali Song because they went to Bali but then things turned sour.. i dont know :) so play of words i guess, instead of a love song entitled Bali Song, it became Balisong, the knife.. because of knife, cuts like a knife. cuts like a balisong
