Lol NCT is a brand, so you’re not exactly supposed to be a fan of the brand, but more so of the subunit or individual members. The purpose of the brand is to create a well known label, where SM can market new members under that name value, it’s easier and efficient (as they don’t have to waste time promoting them) because they will added under the already famous name NCT. Just think of famous brands, you don’t have to be a fan of the brand but if you see something you like and you see the brand, you’re more likely to buy it because it’s familiar to you. No one buys brands that no one has ever heard of. Of course there are anomalies but I hope this helps you guys understand. This performance was a special addition to the 2018 album for fans, it’s going to be rare to have all the NCT members together and was meant as a special gift. So if there are people like the monroe? (White hair girl), who don’t like big groups with many members, you can be a fan of just a subunit or just a member. Because NCT is fairly new group, they only have one fixed unit at the moment, and few rotational subunit with fixed concept, but in the future you will be able to Stan based on an unit or your bias members.

i just realized their concept is almost like a represent of a fridge. I know this sounds crazy but let me put this out first. NCT is like a fridge, so many food ingredients inside your fridge but you won't use every single of them to make one dish. You may need 5 ingredients to make a dish or sometimes you use only 2 ingredients to make same dish as 5 using prepacked ingredient(?). Those fridge can serve different dishes depend on your palate. Sometimes you want something spicy, or sour or creamy. Just like NCT as a whole is a fridge, NCT's sub unit (NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream) is a dish, that all each of them serve with different flavours and ingredients. Some members act as an onion; a key food ingredient in most of the dishes. Just like onion; these members are flexible; they can adapt with any concept. While others member serve different job to compliment a certain dish. It doesn't mean they are less important!

Ten is the only NCT member to have a solo. He has released 2 songs - dream in a dream and new heroes. I am actually looking forward to you guys checking him out. He got acknowledged as one of the best dancers of third gen when he participated in a dance reality show for idols, hit the stage, despite having a leg injury. He has smooth vocals too

I also thought there was too many members before getting into them, but then I realised that they all have something different to bring in each unit and they all have different voices and rap style. Also it is always interesing to see what combinason of people they'll make for new songs, and the dances as well. In NCT U for example (which is a rotational unit) they pick the members who suits the songs the most, so for a darker/hip hop concept they'll bring the rappers and singers who'll suit the song the most, and for the brighter and singing songs they'll bring the members who'll have the most suitable voices and dance style. I think it's very interesting, also the fact that the diversity in the group is amazing, since they currently represent 6 different countries, they connect to Korean & International fans really well since it is easier to interact with them considering that most of them speak a lot of different languages depending on where they are from (for example Korea, America, Canada, Japan, China, Thailand..).

oh no its fine, i get how it can be overwhelming. But they are divided into units for a reason. They keep adding new members and they keep creating more units. its more like several groups under one umbrella term. They promote within their subgroups and this is the first and only video with all the members of nct 2018. Its actually an amazing marketting tactic because each subunit has their own audience. NCT u is very popular internationally along with nct 127 but nct 127 is more active in korea(they are the subunit who are majorly to promote in korea as 127 is the latitude and longitude of seoul), nct dream is popular among teens and attract a younger crowd, and now they are planning to debut nct china which of course will attract the chinese audience. Its like nct as a group can be active at the same time in different parts of the world.

this is the only song they have with all 18 members so it's usually not so overwhelming lol here is some information that will hopefully help (or make you more confused but we'll see lol): they are usually just split into their respective units but this was the song to incorporate all three units into one for performance purposes and to include all the members that were active this year (thats why it's called NCT 2018) at the beginning of the year they released "yearbook" videos (which if you're interested i would watch yearbook #2) which showcases and introduces all 18 members that were to be active in NCT this year NCT is the umbrella term that connects all NCT units (Dream, U, 127, and more to come) and NCT 2018 is just the active members of this year (since they could add new members at any time) between those units (next year's lineup could be known as NCT 2019 and so on) so basically, NCT is the group as a whole but NCT 2018 specifically is all the members active this year, which could change year to year which is why it is named separately than just NCT which refers to the general group sorry if that was confusing lol but i tried :')

I just realized the song I kept hearing in the outro was not a cover but your actual song! IT SOUNDS GOOD! Gotta find that full version. For NCT, yeah, too many but that's literally the point. You can get super creative if you had that many people. It's like "NCT" is a company that have "branches" to please a certain demographic/market. It's done quite effortlessly because each individual have a "style" that fits them. With 18 members you can focus more on dance performance (Like Black on Black) and try to reach a certain creativity that a solo/small group of dancer can't achieve. Or you can make subunits that appeal to certain audience. And that's what NCT is doing. My favorite unit is NCT U.

Yeah..there are a lot of members but something that helps me is that specially in performances like this which are very choreo heavy is to not focus on faces too much You can get to know them in their sub units . The thing with big groups like NCT and Seventeen is that they use their members to create different dynamics in the dance so I think the point is to view the performance as a whole without trying to catch all of their faces like a panned out shot. I do agree that there are a lot of members but i guess after learning everyone's name and who is who it gets easier. The same goes for seventeen. Also I would hate to pop your bubble but NCT has infinite members. Currently there are only 18 that has debuted but right now there are also 4 new members that are currently rumored to be debuting soon and i believe there are around 88 trainee members in NCT right now. I might be wrong with the numbers but there are a lot of members that are currently on the waiting line for NCT. Anyways thank you for reacting!!! So basically SM created NCT as an 'experimental group' where they keep adding members to groups while members can also 'graduate' such as in NCT Dream (e.g. Mark is over 18 so he graduated beginning of this year 😔). However graduating members are still a part of NCT. It's just that NCT as a whole will keep on getting new members..but there would probably also be new sub-groups in the future to account for new members.

this is a song meant to be performed. It isn't meant to be like any other kpop group or like their subunits songs. It was simply meant to get all of the members within each unit together to promote the group better through their damned good performance. They're killer dancers and they can all work really well together as dancers. Hope you start briefing them for like 10 or 15 seconds before they watch a video lol, it would make it a lot easier for them to focus on the art and concept of the music & video rather than on other general details.

They don't usually all perform together, i know all of them, it's not hard when you're used to kpop groups. Kinda like being a teacher and having to remember the names of your pupils lol - you get used to it :)

Well they’re usually in sub units so we don’t see them as a whole together often. So don’t think about it to hard. It’s easy to know them all of you look at them in separate sub groups but still consider them to be apart of ‘NCT’. Doesn’t seem like “too many” then.

NCT is literally a group with no limit on member capacity so you better get used to it lol. But also, this is the first time they've all come together for something. It's usually just the subunits doing their own thing and then like NCT-U rotating members and making our lives difficult.
