The commercial was for Microsoft... I remember freaking out the time I was passing by the living room and the commercial came on the TV. It was so unexpected! I was thrilled. But man, they all look so young in the video, especially CL and Minzy (being the younger two of the group). That was longer ago than I like to think about... oh my god. I clicked so fast on this one. 2NE1 are legends and the pioneers of the "empowering / confident / badass women" in kpop from 2009. In the middle of sexy or cute girl group concepts, they brought the fierce and "in your face" attitude with songs telling off men (I don't Care, Go Away, Hate You) and well, saying i'm the best you can't compare (Can't Nobody, Try to Follow Me, Crush). Their stage performances were amazing. They used to mix a lot of streetwear/futuristic fashion (kinda reminiscent of the TLC at the time), used crazy hairstyles and were known as "originals" and fashion icons. They did hip hop + dancepop so well, literally every comeback of them were hits because they were unique in their genre. Unfortunaly, they split and their company made BP with a very similar concept but their legacy always live....

They were and still are the female version of BigBang in terms of their style.

I remember, I Am the Best came like a storm in Asia way back 2011. 2NE1 is the pioneer of girl crush concept and the most badass group in Kpop alongside with Bigbang before. They are one of the groups that introduced Kpop not just in Asia but in America and Europe.
