And interesting thing with the Destroy me more, the way he says it, it also sounds like "Please run away." The PD on the song asked Taemin if he could say it more clearly but Taemin wanted his listeners to hear it as "Please run away" first and then read it in the lyrics as "Destroy me more".

what you said doesn't sound shady at all dizz. there's a reason why taemin was picked as the first ever soloist from SM entertainment, despite all the talented, experienced artists signed under SM. and this was when debuting soloists wasn't even a thing back then (it's so common now). taemin has built his own identity, and there's nothing better than seeing a true artist shine as their true self. also, a lot of his work centers around subtle details, which isn't really the focus of superm. and as an end note, shinee/taemin are always different once on stage- his presence in superm mvs is very different to his presence in superm live stages.

As a Shawol, I really don't mind him joining with SuperM coz I am seeing a different Taemin he is like usual. Like what he said, it's totally new to him especially the dance performance coz he wasn't used to that kind of style, but if he didn't say so we wouldn't know coz he still killed it. It's kinda watching a brand new Taemin especially those who just knew Kpop and who thought that he was kinda old idol where in fact he is younger than those of some 3rd gen kpop idols, many new fans noticed him in SuperM and I'm glad coz they found a gold gem in him.

Oh, absolutely. I totally agree - he isn't able to showcase his best in SuperM. the group is a lot of fun and I feel the chemistry, but when you look at the music to what Taemin has done as a soloist and as SHINee, it's incomparable. and I think there would be fans of the other members' respective groups that would agree as well. glad you finally reacted to Criminal! it's really been a while! this comeback deserved so, so much more love than a few days of live stages. I totally agree with Dizz, I think Taemin shines the most on his own. I enjoy SHINee and Super M too, but they do represent a different aesthetic and sound. Seeing how dark and creative he can be on his own makes it kind of hard to then watch him pong back to a boy group type vibe. It's also funny because based on interviews, it seem like he enjoys group activities more...maybe not on a creative level but certainly on a day to day level. Sounds like it can be lonely as a solo.

I agree! I wonder if it also seems weird because solo is the ultimate goal of western artists and groups are seen as a stepping stone... think JT, Beyoncé, Zayn or Harry Styles. I think that assumption is both true and untrue. Groups can be more popular and just bring in more money - likely how Kpop operates, but they do seem less sustainable and freely creative in the long run. For whatever reason the “boy/girl group” aesthetic doesn’t work the same way when members are grown up (Backstreet Boys.. Boys to Men... etc). Maybe it feels disingenuous at some point, like a true artist would want total creative freedom from the constraints and shiny commercial veneer of a pop group.

@@Alykia Yes!! 5hinee is kind of crazy. We figured SM just let’s them do what they want. They’ve literally said the same thing themselves. Ever since the Sherlock album, they’ve broken through. It’s not everyday you get to resign your contract under your own terms. Only SHINee, Boa and Dbsk have done that. Just wait until they come out with another album or song. It’s gonna be fire.

He shines with Shinee and he has developed his talent with his original group. I believe he said in an interview that he was originally eyeing performing solo but in those times SM are more into debuting groups. He eventually loved being in a group but he still has the desires to go solo and the opportunity was given to him and I believe it was the right time for him to do so. I feel that Taemin really wants a solo career because he wants to work on his music and what he wants to express thru it. I'm not sad that he is in SuperM bcoz it's a great group and he enjoys his time with them yeah SM wants to form a super group and of course he has to be a part of it but Taemin is born to be a solo star. He divides his time over these two activities, he really works hard to make Super M great and to make his solo goals come to life. I do truly wish he releases more solo songs soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction (was waiting for it). Dizz I kind of actually agree with you about Taemin in Superm. LIke he brings it for sure, but to me it all feels like he is holding back because he is in a group, which shows his commitment and ability to switch, but it makes me want him to shine more like in his solos. All the members of SuperM are excellent OF COURSE, but like when SuperM did SuperCar live performance his "Vroom" part went viral because he exploded the performance and that's his potential, but I don't think he's able to show that potential as much in SuperM. Like Zak said, he feels free in his solos and in SHINee, but more restricted elsewhere. Again, only opinions, but I really resonated with what you said. You all should watch/react to his live performance of "Black Rose" ( a b-side) as well-truly an amazing performance. Love you guys!

"Criminal" is part of Taemin's 3rd Korean solo album called Never Gonna Dance Again. It is part of a trilogy which starts with his prologue "2 Kids" and continues with "Criminal" which is part of Act 1 of the album. He will release Act 2 next -- we are still waiting to see what the next piece will be. As Taemin said in an interview: "The two acts put together tell a story. ‘2 Kids’ is about growing pains and depicts the story prior to the story in the album. You can think of "2 Kids" as a teaser before the movie called 'Never Gonna Dance Again.' Act 1 shows a new side of me. I think it’ll be something you’ve never seen in K-pop before. And Act 2 is the end-all-be-all. It’s the ultimate level of intensity. Never Gonna Dance Again’ was originally the name of the concept. Because it doesn’t make sense for me to stop dancing. But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.” When you watch the MV with the English subs on you will see that Taemin is not the criminal in the song. He is being held captive by the criminal who is the girl he is singing about. The song is about living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed by the girl to the point where you are suffering from stockholm syndrome and you have now fallen in love with the person who is inflicting all the pain and suffering on you. Even though you are being abused by that person you can't help but love them and allow them to continue to hurt you, etc. :D To really appreciate the choreography in "Criminal" you have to watch Taemin's dance practice for the song. You will be even more blown away when you see the dance in its entirety without any cuts. This choreography is truly Taemin at his best.

@@caroleng1190 Of course I am still Taemin's fan. I'm an eternal Shawol, there is nothing that would ever make me stop supporting him or any of the members. As for Taemin's enlistment date, I'm happy for him. Go get it done with is how I feel. He will only be gone for a year and a half or maybe even less with the pandemic making it so they are unable to use their vacation time. And besides, Taemin is one of the most high profile celebrities that will be enlisted at the moment, so I am sure we will get plenty of footage of him while he is in the military. Military service is actually looked at as a big honor, and although Idols are sad to have to leave fans and take a break from their careers, they embrace their service as a duty to their country and a right of passage. But most of the time entertainers are not just serving like a regular soldier, often they petition to be part of activities that keep them working in entertainment type jobs. For example, Onew spent his time serving on the military's promotional team performing in musical productions of plays based on a military themed story, alongside several other Kpop stars who were also serving at the same time. And Key auditioned to be a part of the military marching band/orchestra so he spent his time as a percussionist, vocalist and MC for public events or performing as part of the entertainment during military events. And Minho, who is known for being one of the top athletes, served in an elite branch of the Marines where he became a decorated leader and one of the top members of his unit. However, we also were able to see Minho participate in military events and even soccer matches while serving. So, even while they are away , if you search KZbin, you can find fancam videos of most of them, where members of the public during special events have recorded the Idols as they are performing, etc. So, we usually still get plenty of content from them, even when they are on hiatus. :D I am sure we will have tons of videos of Taemin while in the military. I'm not sure what kind of help you are looking for or if I really can be of much help. But give me some more details and I can see what I can do.

When Monroe screamed at the "Destory Me More", I felt that! The most interesting part about this lyrics is how it also sound like "Run Away" in Korean which fits the point of the song, Stockholm Syndrome. I love Taemin in SHINee and Super M, but as a soloist his artistry really shines. His personal style is very different from the boy group vibe. Taemin embodies a very dark, sensual, sexy underbelly and he brings it out for all to see or hints at it in both subtle and dramatic ways. . Everything about him screams sensuality and sex, with soul stealing and seering gazes that pierce to the very center of your being. Then there's soft Taemin. Still sensual, but rocking the vocals in a soft and smooth sultry way or belting out those high notes and putting every single fiber of his being into it. But seriously, no matter what style of himself he is presenting, there is an absolute artistry to it. He is performing, expressing and perfecting his art. There are always layers of meaning to his music and often more than one way to interpret it. But I have to say ...when he is performing, I fiercely love dark Taemin. Lol I am so looking forward to Act 2 and am very hopeful for a full view of his rumored side tattoo. 👍 I highly recommend watching Criminal with the subtitles on. Personally I think is more because they SM/Capitol Records are not USING their full potential :( It is not only having talented people, it is knowing what concepts to use, how to reach the public,etc... Like their first concept (trailers) was pretty good, and after it went a little... down? And I don't even want to talk about the bad organization and mistakes that SM has made...They could do even more amazing if they know how to make everyone and their skills shine better

I always mean it like that, it’s not their fault, my point was that with members of their quality in a group they could do sooooo many things, like ten is one of the best dancers EVER, and he doesn’t get that much of centers in the choreos for example, like bruuuh, what are you doooing,, and the mvs :(( geeez the last ones were all inside doors, like, sm is part of the big 3, they can spend a lil more on that, and it’s not that I want a whole expensive comeback but, the management they provide for such of high quality artists they have,,, is just not it :/, in my opinion, but I support them and love them literally for their talent, not the label, not the MV, so yeah, let’s keep supporting them well😞cause that’s all we can do

The Pre single 100 (that to me was not necessary, the mv could have been better bc the song is not bad but...) then Tiger Inside that is a great song but I was expecting something amazing for the MV, like a forest or temple, is not bad but again, could have been better) and then again with 'One'. Not going to lie, I got a little more excited with all the trailers mixed at the end ;-; Talking about Ten, at least in 'One' he had more lines and he shined a little more there

Same. As a Kai fan it is very frustrating as he gets some of the least amount of center time and lines in each SuperM song. Like if Kai is not your clear main dancer and center....why even have him in the group? The idea of having a bunch of centers and main/lead dancers in a group sounds like a good idea until you realize that they really don't get to shine individually bc everyone has to have their part in the middle.

I agree, I didn't feel Taemin in SuperM. In an mv too, maybe because they were 7 of them to focus on. But with the video of their SuperM performance you know he shines. Why? Because 95% of the comment are all about Taemin. Two of those are I can't stand the rain and one (infinity and monster). Their is something on him that when he perfoms you can't take your eyes on him.

First off, I completely agree with Dizz. SuperM are amazing, but Taemin really does shine way more in his solo work! I totally agree with Dizz - I prefer Taemin solo over Taemin in SuperM any time and any place! Taemin solo is unmatched and his music, his own vibe is 1000% my thing. In SuperM he brings a lot of quality and color to the group’s vocals and overall vibe, but he doesn’t show his full potential. It’s like an artist of such a caliber shouldn’t be reduced to couple of lines and I feel like because it’s a group of 7 people where each of them needs a moment to shine naturally all of them have moments where they are in the background. Well, in my opinion Taemin should never be in the background, he belongs to the spotlight only!!!
