Don’t know if you will see this mav but my mother past away 2 days ago from a battle with liver and kidney disease and we use to love watching your videos. I would have dinner with her and would say “hey there is a new mav today” and it was just so relaxing to watch. Got our minds off of everything happening in our lives. So thank you for creating this content and making a really shitty situation somewhat comforting. I can hardly sleep the past few days and just have your videos on all night. Thanks mav.

Hey Mav as someone who works in a garage I would highly recommended buying a code scanner that plugs into the obd2 port on your truck, also to get the work done on the truck in the lower 48 as you will likely get really hurt on cost in Alaska vs the lower 48. Even if it is a ruined motor you can find junkyard f-150 motors cheaper/abundant as well as lower mileage all around. I'm sure Michigan has no shortage... Much love and keep up the good content, been loving the Alaska content as I was born and raised there and now currently live in Arizona.

I agree about the code scanner, those newer ones are fairly cheap and can tell you a lot about what may be the issue. I also carry a portable jump starter box just in case the battery dies for whatever reason. Those are probably two of the most important things I carry in my truck

Mav has literally saved my life,true inspiration. On July 13 2005, I had a bad motorcycle accident and was about killed. 10 surgeries in the first 11 years. 4 backs,4 left hip surgeries, one on left elbow and left hand. Bought given up on life in general, over weight at 354 and now 262. 92 pounds of weight loss and counting. Hey Mav, take your truck to a Ford dealership go into the parts department make sure you bring your VIN number they will look it up find out exactly what engine is in there. Then you can ask them if that engine is still available you can also ask them what vehicles had that engine and simply buy a new engine and put it in the truck. You've made so many changes to that truck to make your life comfortable and it would be a lot less money to buy an engine than to buy a new truck. You'll be spending between 40 and $80,000 on a new truck why not just keep that one it's an excellent vehicle it does what you want you got it set up the way you like it just put a new engine in it

Ford Cam Phasers can be a problem. Dirty oil can trigger the CEL. A truck with a lot of miles will inevitably have wear on timing components. A timing job (chains, guides, tensioners) is a major repair. It might be time for a new MAV Truck Build!!!

@JM - I have worked in the automotive aftermarket for nearly two decades. I drive my truck to the tune of 60k company miles every year. Don’t talk to me about inflated truck prices, I live it every day. As far as MAV goes, he is probably in a better position than most if chose to do this. He has a tire sponsor, with his sphere of influence a truck sponsor isn’t that far of a stretch.

Spent around $3000 on my 08 suburban last February doing timing set and rear main seal as well as replacing oil pump and water pump! Sounds like a lot for an older vehicle but considering a new one costs close to $100,000 it’s a bargain!

What a great trip to share with us all.Thank you.Cam-phasers are a pain.Make sure they drill the oil return drain holes larger through the heads.Synthetic oil will help save the parts for longer.If the cams were going you'd hear a rattling when starting it cold,and idle when hot.The rattle is from the timing chain guides being worn out.I haven't heard it.

@@brians6680 ​Bear spray is sufficient in most cases as a deterrent but it’s wise to bring a firearm too. I usually carry a 10mm for the added capacity, but most people prefer .44mag. Shotgun’s if you’re going remote. Just bring extra shells in a waterproof bag.

I am not a gun person myself. But I am always aware of my surroundings and carry bear spray. I should ad that usually someone in the group does have a sidearm - I've lived here all my life and I would say the only encounters where I was ever really scared was fishing the russina river during the height of red's - and there had just been two maulings back to back the previous week. We saw a mama and two cubs who was not deterred by my air horn and actually charged my dog. Its important to respect their space, never turn your back and act big - then get away

Dude! I have fished that exact river when I was a kid. This is sooo cool to see you there. We would typically use dry flies or a regular light spinner rod with a treble hook. You cast up stream and reel fast. They are territorial fish. Awesome vid man!

I know you love your truck and you take pride in what you do. I highly suggest putting a ceramic coating on your paint to protect from the elements and it will make it MUCH easier to clean. I’m a professional detailer so seeing you wash from salty mud to pearl white was quite satisfying lol. Keep on truckin!

Great video Mav! Since you're on the road so much, would probs be a good idea to invest in a bluetooth scan tool for vehicle diagnosis. Gives ya a better idea whats wrong and if it needs immediate attention. Saves the diag cost at a shop too! Awesome what you did for Steve, was incredibly wholesome to see, keep being you man

Arctic grayling are found across northern Canada as well. The meat doesn't take long to spoil though, but there is nothing finer for a catch and cook...especially when canoe tripping/backpacking. I like your merch and will have to look into it. Keep living your Dash!!! - Davey.

My 2013 Ford F150 XLT 3.5 ecoboost blew it motor last year. Started with a timing chain replacement, Then about 3 months later the #2 cylinder let the piston go. That motor was smoked 125,000 miles I know the feeling with the truck!

Any idea how Mav deals the condensation in his truck? I know camping in the colder weather in my van the roof would be dripping with condensation in the morning and would eventually get everything wet. Just curious how he deals with it and thought he might have had it covered in a previous video
