Who else came here with the expectation that they would mention the Long Shift problem?
@chrislemaster26952 жыл бұрын
I have had several of these and I have changed the fluid every 30k miles and never had any trans fluid. Most failures are caused by friction of dirty fluid as they were out. My problems were the frame would rot away and would not pass safety inspections and have gotten well over 300k miles out of them with out any rebuilds

Accumulator shift kit should be tried out to fix the max adapt long shift hard shift problem. Typical procedure put sea foam transtune in and drive a bit to remove debris from the transmission, drop pan, remove filter, remove accumulator, install shift kit, put it back together replacing the filter, fill and road test. The shift kit helped a lot of people with the hard up shifts. Better to try if it don't work then replace solenoids (leaving the shift kit in) The shift kit is how the trans should have been made.

James Richards why not first install the pcs and shift solenoids first?

Always replace the torque converter during a transmission rebuild.The 1811 code was left out,fix is to replace a couple solenoids

Did you figure out that problem man? I have a 95 buick lesabre and I can put into any gear but the car won't move .. I did some research and think it might be a shift solenoid but I'm no mechanic

4:38 this dude is 100% a mechanic..... the other dude.... who sounds MUCH more happy.... is 100% NOT a mechanic... and what he says about "abusing the trans" is 100% correct..... these old 3 and 4 speed trans'es still have a BIT of race car in them..... get it under load, thats where it likes to shift

1997 buick lesabre 3.8 my problem is when car is stopped and in drive you push gas pedal to go there a dump in trans. trans shifts fine through all gears. what could this be ? only does this after engine gets up to normal operating temperature.
@kainhall4 жыл бұрын
what is a "dump in the trans"???? does it shudder? slip? try to stall? if you mean "when i try to go.... their is a BUMP/clunk..... replace your motor and trans mounts
@chrislemaster26952 жыл бұрын
@@kainhall These are bad dog bone moter mounts in the front and your trans mounts are going bad. Mine did this had all mounts replaced no cluncking
@chasedavis2358 Жыл бұрын
That’s normal, when it’s at idle the clutches are under lower pressure and when you dump it they’ll slip and catch alittle
@cyoungso4 жыл бұрын
Will the shift kit fix the clunk from stop into 1st?
@Daddimirr4 жыл бұрын
Check your mounts and bushings everywhere first auto trans are designed to be smooth slushboxes and really shouldn’t clunk internally unless something is really messed up where you’d find more noticeable symptoms

@@philjohnsonjohnson3639 It has worn out clutches, they need to be replaced with new ones. Restarting the car clears the "limp home" mode and its been put in that mode by the computer that sees something it doesn't like and is serious enough for you to go get it fixed.

Most 4T65E's are well over 200k miles at this point. They are far from junk. I've personally owned 3 that have over 200k and one at 270k.
