Coming back to comment with a followup. Got to take my rnv-31 out a couple times now, once for an overnight and next day range shoot with some of the guys. My initial impressions were that man I really had convinced myself that a mono pvs14 was "good enough"... and, honestly it IS but duals are so much better lmao. These worked fantastic, look great, got perfect looking tubes from what I can tell. I'm using a chinesium cadex mount on an ops core ballistic with amps. I had a great time. I did order some iris adapters from cold harbor supply since those seem like the magic sauce. Im 100% satisfied with these $4600 duals vs $10-12k for really nice ones. Now, I should probably avoid looking at a buddy's nice duals and seeing how much better those are, but these rnv-31, chef's kiss

“Cold Harbour Supply” sells adapters for the Rix 31’s so that you can install Focus Irises on them. Bought a set. Love ‘em.👍

I'm not sure what you mean. Quad means four tubes for panoramic vision. What I've got is dual tubes and a single tube is something like a PVS-14. I've found that having dual tubes is much easier and more comfortable to use than a single monocular.

Up to you, but I'm perfectly happy with it. You can definitely pay more for Gen 3.

It's mostly the rich larpers gatekeeping. They also say don't get digital, but honestly everybody should start out with an NVG30 these days before even considering dropping months/years of savings.

It's more of an architectural difference than a performance based one, you can get low grade gen3 tubes that will perform worse than a higher spec gen2+ for the same amount of money. There's several videos on it. If you wanted to do some research

What are you looking at as far a LAMs? I bought the Holosun LE117($350-$400), It is IR only. Kinda wish I would have gone for the LE221($700+) it has vis and IR lasers. For a beginner LAM, those are good, going to save up for the Zbolt ACAL, which doesn't come out until next year.

I've been looking into everything. It's been hard to make a decision on that, yet. I want IR laser AND illuminator and a visible laser would be helpful for zeroing in the daytime, as long as it's slaved to the IR laser.

@@sawtoothtactical404 Take a look into Laserspeed (RT6 I think). It's over $1000, 4MR Ranch has a review on it. I am still waiting on the Zbolt ACAL, I just prefer the laser over bore ones. Last year at ShotShow, they said they were looking at a $1500 price point, but since June of this year, the price is listed as TBD. My guess, around $2k.

I built those planes years ago and used to fly them all the time. This last summer, I flew one again for the first time in 20 years and it all came back pretty quickly. I had a few good landings, before crashing one again, though. haha

How are these as far as repairability? is it something worth sending back for repair and are parts readily available? Just wondering if the turnaround time for repair would take weeks or months (just in case they need to be sent off)

Can you remove one tube and replace with a thermal? Like are they removable?

I'm not sure, but they have a thermal clip-on. I'm going to be getting one to test out soon. It's called the RENV-C, if you want to check it out. You add it to one of the tubes.

Definitely yes but they use a specific battery pack powered by 2 x 18650 batteries

Not if you want it bad enough. Stop drinking booze for a year, sell one of your poverty pony rifles, cut out something unhealthy that you are doing, walk instead of drive some. There is always a way. It might take you a couple years, but then you'll have them. would rather be someone with NODS who made a few minor sacrifices for a couple years....or be a winey little p.o.g who STILL not be able to see in the dark? The time is gonna pass either way.
