The only reason RL is still alive is cause the core gameplay is just too goated. Like if you gave this game to anyone else it would've been the most watched esport for decades. Its the only video game that could become a lifelong sport.

@@theepicgamer1196most of smash esports were community run for the longest time, and then nintendo all but murdered those exact community run tournaments. Smash has a similar issue to what this comment said ab RL, if the game wasnt so incredible and irreplaceable the scene wouldve died long ago.

@@theepicgamer1196melee is still one of the tried and true games of the ftc. But when smash was still in evo the crowds that melee would pull would be insane they would rival street fighters 100k plus audience. Melee tournaments are a little less smelly but it’s still smash.

It's the other way round too It shows the item is eligible in RL I know a lot of people who started RL because of FN and FN crew(free rocket pass) My friend played RL for the first time and is lvl 78 rn... I think more people are playing rocket league because of Fortnite than the opposite and epic is kinda successful in that...

Epic gave up on RL and is just milking it for what it has left. Only reason why RL is still somewhat relevant is because of the pro scene and even then, the pro scene went downhill in the past year. Only a matter of time before the game dies out IMO

Definitely not. eSports isn't going anywhere. I think Rocket League sits in a great niche. It might not be in its absolute best form for the players or orgs, but this seasons format has shown a lot of fun games from "unknown" teams with no orgs taking out teams like Kcorp

The game is in such a bad spot right now. Between win traders, ddos'ers, hardly any major LANs, abysmal servers, etc. its so sad. And then all Psyonix does is just release new items.

Just came back after a 3 year break. Can't trade amongst friends anymore, servers seem to be even worse than they were and for some reason the MMR system seemed to be off too... Was getting very mixed ranked lobbies and it's gotta be because they just can't find players right?

It's kinda crazy how air dribbles and flip resets used to actually be on my bucket list and i respected it so much back when rocket league was popping. Now when i see people with crazy mechs, i kinda feel sorry them. Like they're wasting their whole lives away. I wonder if we'd look at sports stars the same way if sports fell off and didn't pay. Maybe not since they're still getting in shape and keeping fit and healthy

The game died when they removed trading. It’s seriously ridiculous that there’s some items I can never get again and if I want something I have to check every week to see if I’m lucky enough for it to be a store item.

That is definitely not true, trading was not the thing that "killed" it. Trading going away is not the worst thing in the world, I do agree it was dumb of them to remove it, but trading was not the main core part of the game or this huge community, but it sucks that it is gone and they should have a way to find these specific items we want.

i've recently stopped playing as much. I'm not sure if it's bc the game is so stale or I've hit GC and GC2 in the past couple months which was my goal for a long time. Now I know that the grind is going to take almost the same amount of time that I was in champ just to get GC3 and since I'm in OCE there's no chaqnce of me getting SSL unless I'm like top 20 in the region. It just feels so unworth to keep grinding.

It’s absurd how much potential this game has and how little effort and attention it’s being given. If Epic just gave Psyonix the staff, funding, and support to improve the game they would make so much money! It’s heart breaking how the suits at Epic are incapable of recognizing how much they could benefit from letting this game thrive. At this point it’s not incompetence or ignorance, it’s straight up malicious and disrespectful to the fans of Rocket League.

Epic Games deleted trading so people would buy items from their shop. Also opening supply drops you will notice you get the same 10 items. They do this to make you want to buy from their item shop. Bunch of money thirsty fortnite owners killing Rocket League. I hope this game makes a comeback but at this rate it will NOT thanks to "ePiC gAmeS".

I still don't know why psyonix doesn't sue epic for breaking contract, since the buyout was explicitly stated to be so that epic would use its bigger power to help rocket league grow. Instead, they laid off over half the employees, removed content from the game, killed the esport, and are so negligent with the game (such as addressing the cheating situation) that even a child can see how ridiculous it is.

There was a way to leave trading in and having a robust system of items while monetizing it and using just a small percentage of those funds to improve e-sports. Instead they blew the whole thing up and made quite literally everything worse, as a player you feel that at all levels of the game and then you queue up and get ddos'd. They made exiting the game feel good, small wins these days I guess.

If literally any other developer, indie or AAA, made an RL clone, the mass migration of players to a new and fresh, and probably more feature-rich game, would wipe RL out. It's ripe for the taking. We see this all the time with RPG games; some keep veteran players engaged for years, but once a new competitor comes around, the new game is the hot new thing and everyone not fully invested in the previous game, ie the majority, moves to the new game.

For my purposes, the matchmaking update has appeared to improve things a bit. I'm not going to disagree with a lot of the opinions, because the game could certainly have way more attention to it and could be refined into something that keeps getting better. Still offers a good rush and a good competitive vibe more often than not for me.

I think irregardless of the reason, this iteration of the RLCS is a blemish on BLAST’s record. It has quite simply, been a sequence of stupid fucking decisions. And whether it’s because they’re simply incompetent, or actually malicious (I doubt it) next season needs to be such a large step up in quality that it’s almost unrecognizable compared to this season.

I’m glad I ditched this game the moment Epic got their hands on Psyonix. There was probably a brief window when it was okay but Epic mismanaged this game into the dirt. They had a golden child and they dunked it in the ocean and left it to rust, then when the complaints rolled in they slapped collab stickers all over it.

Been playing since 2014-2015 rocket league used to be an amazing game. But over the past 5 years or so it’s been going down hill with cheaters and trick shooters and replay watchers. It’s not what it used to be. People sand bagging there profile to play with lower levels to hit shots. This game is trash now. Trick shot community and cheaters ruined this game.

it sounds silly but I hope this radicalizes young people and they draw parallels to the real world. this is late stage capitalism on display. buy a popular product, strip it for parts and put it on auto pilot that prints money until the game dies a slow death, then they move onto the next venture

People are crazy. Guess what you been playing a game, a free game, for problyably years of you life, 1009s of hrs of your life, for FREE. The people that made this game what 10 yrs ago...are older now, they have families now, maybe they didn't wanna work at epic their whole life, and yea things change. But GD stop complaining about a free game that gave you 1000s of hrs of fun, playtime and new friends.

I also got it when it was free, and I agree that it gave me thousands of hours of enjoyment over the last decade or so. It just seems like the game could have easily given me/us thousands of hours of enjoyment for the next decade as well. There was a point within the last 5 years when it didn't need to be touched except for necessary updates. Seems like the game has been purposefully made unplayable as of late. I can't cosign on what others are saying, but I stopped playing last year when they took dropshot out. There was no obvious reason for this so I uninstalled. I could always get a game going quickly. Matchmaking was mostly okay. The mode helped me develop accuracy from the air and off the walls... Then poof.

At some point they fucked the game, the remedy I found was turning discords resource usage to low in task manager and bumping rocket league to high, assuming you run discord at the same time. It’s fixed my issue for me but it’s insane bc I don’t have this issue in other games

There’s shift summer league and esports World Cup before worlds. Then flip and spin and FIFAe World Cup after worlds. FIFAe World Cup is a tournament between countries so Jack needs to play for England and so on

Every single video this guy does is that RL died, it's dead, etc. But yet here we are, you know what a dead game is? Gears of War, I know e day is coming but Gears doesn't even have e-sports anymore and the most famous pro players get like 2k or 3k views at best each video, you also only find lobbies in USA. RL is very far from that.

The developers are told to make items and probably have to push Epic hard to add QOL/gameplay updates. Epic and former Psyonix ownership is to blame, just wanting more profit. The Psyonix developer skeleton crew still assigned to maintenance are not to blame. Don't get that twisted.
