When I made one of these a while back, I didn’t want the pattern to repeat. My build had three tracks at different gear ratios and relative speeds. It was way cool, and every once in a while you would have three cars line up in an impossible wall. To make it possible it had a three speed transmission. Had scorekeeping on an EV3. Didn’t have much of a piece collection at the time so it was not anywhere this pretty. This makes me want to come back and do it again

That’s a good idea, but a lot more complicated, and the turn off mechanism would be very hard.

@@RJMBricks About speed tho, as its still not that much of a simulator (It's still very cool and i couldn't accomplished smthn close to that, i dont have enough patience for it), what about instead of controlling the speed by yourself, instead hooking up he speed-controller to the drive motor but put it through a high gear ratio to make it spin extremely slow so that when starting the game it starts slow and gets faster and faster the longer you go, thus having an increasing difficulty like classic arcade games?

This is really cool. The design is perfect, reminds me of the retro racing simulators. I have one small idea, what if you randomized it? You could have different tiles with different car configurations all stored in one side, then have a slider that can push the top one onto the living track, which is the road. If you have multiple tracks and find a way to randomize the selection, maybe using the Mindstorms, it could make it more fun and interesting. Great video, just like every previous one. 👍

@krzysztofczarnecki82382 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could use magnets, but AFAIK all the official Lego magnets are too big for this. You'd probably need small, round neodymium magnets that go inside the Technics pegs or the round things on the underside of regular bricks. Then the cars would be relatively easy to add and remove, but they might rotate or come off by themselves. Which might be a good thing at the end of the track - old cars would fall off and slide into a car container, where some mechanism picks out a random car from and applies it tho the road. Could have two magnets per car with opposing poles, so that the cars would auto-align. But this would not be a 100% Lego build with some random hardware store magnets added. Never stopped me though, I added all kind of weird things to the bricks because special bricks used to be very rare and expensive where I live.

This is rad as hell and reminds me of the handheld mechanical games that companies like Tomy made in the late 1970s.

you could make the oncoming traffic move faster then the traffic you are suppose to be with, by splitting the road in half. Making a slightly larger version would also allow for more design options. Your design is excellent and looks very polished.

Amazing concept! I think it would be somewhat simple to accomplish, as long as you didn't have varying track speeds, as others have suggested. You'd simply need to make the stop switch a dual purpose switch that would unleash a tensioned (rubber band?) to drop a sign that was held by a trigger. The true challenge would be to make "YOU WIN!" sign. If I had anywhere close to as many Legos as I'd need to make something like this, I would certainly make a video and post it.
