I think 10:40 - 11:37 highlights what made this battle and movie so good. The rebels get their small victories, destroying a walker here and there, but the Empire is just so unstoppable that it doesn't matter. This battle really did a great job of showing what fighting the Empire was like through most of the war. The idea that no matter what you did they could just keep coming.

biggest failing of later starwars is making the Empire keystone cops. in order for a threat to have menace it needs to be competent. I was just watching "X-Men: Days of future past" The opening sequence of the Sentinels attack is perfect for showing how out matched the heros are and how powerful the threat is.
