Does this modification affect the overall top speed of the vehicle and does it affect the mpg?

it will not help top speed not sure about MPG

I've done it, funny tho, everyone does it just a little different, I used my dremel with cutting wheel and sandpaper to clean up and make smooth, I didn't cut all the way through the inner piece tho, want a better seal when you put back together, use a little shoe goo around the edges when closing, I used shoe goo on the CVT side as well, better seal and doesn't rattle ( make noise), keep up the good work and videos

What happens when you drive in the rain? Isn't the water going to rush right into the intake?

As long as your filter is oiled it should repel a little water not recommended for riding in a down pour for hours.

Just curious, how about when it rains and you ride, not that you plan to ride in the rain but it those happen at times,Will the rain cause any issue in the intake?

No sir these bikes have self learning ECUs and make small changes so that’s not a problem
