Fantastic boat and nice review. What’s the build quality like of the interior? Looks like a lot of uneven gaps between different pieces.

Build quality is good; all floor panels can be locked down, and as the main structure is made in marine ply, all the bulkheads tie into one another, so a very stiff sailboat. We have been invited to do a factory tour if that is of interest to you guys?

@@SVTONICBoatWives Yes, please tell us more about it. In particular, the floorboards seem to be squeaky. Can you confirm? Is there anything that can be done about it? Another potential issue: with a German mainsheet system to be operated so close to the jib/spinnaker winches, isn't it going to be messy around the companionway, with mainsheet and headsail trimmers getting in each other's way? You are right; I am having lots of problems with the new GOPRO resetting itself, or it is just changing settings while I am recording. I will be giving it away on our website for free when we are able to purchase a wide-angle lens for my Sony a7iii. I will never use GOPRO again. Glad you like the boat. We have a factory tour coming up soon with RM if anyone is interested?

I have no knowledge of any bankruptcy, but I do know they are part of the Grand Large Group and launching new models. I would say they are going strong and we will see some new boats from RM in the future.

That's the question. To be honest, I have no idea and will do my best when we get out on my friend Maxime's boat. We will push it as hard as possible without breaking it to get you the info you want. I know they are supposed to be fast; the only boats I can compare it to is a Pogo or Jeaneau sunfast. Both I have sailed with some great speed and manoeuvrability. 😁

I actually feel wood trim in cabin feels old and dated. I like the Sterile look. Easy to clean! Feels way more open and modern. Great boat, wish I could afford it. 😂

I like the modern look as well, it's clean and stylish, but wood is easier to maintain over time. There are sailboats I expect to sea wood use I;e Hallberg Rassy, Amel ETC but on a modern yacht with clean fast lines like the RM the modern interia helps to set it apart and yes much easier to keep clean.

Respectfully - you say the plywood hulls are coated in composite. I don't believe they are. Only the plywood butt-joins are taped with glassfibre and resin and the rest of the plywood panels are only sealed with epoxy resin and then filler. There maybe an option to add Kevlar fabric and epoxy resin but where that is over the entire hull or not I do not know. Maybe some one here can correct or add to this? I have long wondered why other designers and builders have not adopted the fantastic interior layout design of the RMs. Their modern design overcomes the key issue I have with other yachts in that the companionway steps are to many and to steep and the interiors not bright enough with a lack of exterior views. I am considering an RM myself for cruising but have yet to understand their all around performance/behaviour including upwind.

I will match what abcgang, but I will add that we are booking a factory visit before Christmas to video the main points of construction, how they operate as a shipyard and that sort of thing. If all goes to plan, the video will be uploaded just after the BOOT Dusseldorf boat show in January 2024. Hope you can wait. If you want to sea-trial one or are happy to wait, we will get our hands on one soon;)

Definitely not the “classic old sailboat of yore”. How well can you expect plastic coated plywood to hold up over the decades?

I believe well, as long as you look after the hull etc, you shouldn't have any problems.
