Actually i watched rm's vlive where he talked about mono. He was so young during debut but as a leader he had a team to lead. Also initially he received lot of hate from people for his music style and also for his looks...it causes my heart so much pain that he even received death threats at a time. The reason why I'm telling this is because all this things happening he started to have inner self hate for himself. If u listen to his 'reflection' he says wish 'i could love myself' which he then changed to yes i do love myself after armys showed him lot of love. He struggled alot mentally and in his live he said that during this time he used to feel suffocating during day and comfort in the night and that's what moonchild is about. Forever rain also have kinda similar meaning...during commentment speech after one concert he cried and said 'thanks to the army i could live this far'.... This whole mono album has lyrics really personal to him but he said that he doesn't feel the same way now. It was his way to make this album and move on. I'm happy that he is happy these days.

mono is stunning. It was critically acclaimed and it hurt that it couldn’t be nominated for Grammys. You truly need to listen to it as he intended, as a playlist. Front to back. I CRIED. It took me weeks to be able to process it and actually enjoy it? It hurts. But truth does that. NamJoon has said he is no longer in the space he was when he created mono and for that I am glad.

It's the fact that the whole mixtape referred to as 'playlist' as RM says is written &produced &arranged by RM himself is incredible. If you listen to the album from start to finish you'll feel so many emotions maybe those are the emotions that were running throughout his mind at that time &what a better way to express them then throughout lyrics. His playlist 'mono.' Feels so special.

Don't forget Hiss Noise. I would never take anything away from RM - this mixtape is his heart and soul, after all - but the reason I think it is always important to give credit where credit is due is because it reflects well _back_ on RM that he is able to seek out other amazing talents to fill in the cracks. That goes for all the members, and the fact that they work well with other artists is a credit to their characters. 🤗💜

The thing that got me wrecked when I first watched this, was the fact that the moon rose when he said “when moon rises, it’s your time. come on, y’all.” As if that moon rising was meant to be a sign for us to “rise” ourselves. Seeing that moon broke me, but I don’t hear many people mention it a lot. Maybe it wasn’t his intention, but seeing that moon rise is always a big motivator for me.

I had the very same thought of the dichotomy of a night scenery many many years ago riding on a night bus across Turkey. It was both a beautiful and lonely scene. In the lights from windows, I imagined people in their homes, families together well after dinner but before bed. A question occurred to me on that dark bus that of all of all the beautiful lights I saw outside, how many of those families in their lit rooms were grieving the loss of someone just as I was at that moment grieving the loss of my dad?

I love your reaction you take your time and that's really nice. Mono as a whole is sort of supposed to be like a playlist on loop. It' really nice to sleep to after a tiring day😁 The lyric video being Korean when it's sung in Korean and English when it's sung in English really makes sense because the people enjoying their music is from a vast variety of regions having many different languages although English is understood by many I feel if it was just an English lyric video it will be like catering to a certain audience which it's really not cause MONO was released for free on SoundCloud for literally anyone to enjoy. Here it's just a language like any other that he uses to express himself. Any person interested in his message will then dig deeper to translate it to a format they understand. Among the many things I love about BTS is that they have always acknowledged the diversity of the people that enjoyed them. JHope also did this in his video with Beckyg when she sings in Spanish it's in Spanish.

Yep, I'll say the same as everybody else MONO is incredible and please listen to it all. As for this particular song, I've listened to it uncountable times and still understand or realize something new every other time I listen to it! RM's writing has meanings beyond just words and yeah you are right his lyrics have the poetic essence into it and thus more difficult to decipher the meaning. As for what I learned new today about this song is, no matter how much we try we are still required to do our part in life even if we want to leave, or lessen responsibilities or die we can't help but do what we are born to do and hence bound to suffer to be happy. The best thing about this song is it doesn't advices, or gives us motivating lines but just states the things as it is once again giving the room of relatability. Oh, I wrote a lot... anyways thankyou for the reaction.💜

I think at one point we all are "Moonchild". We all have times were we are so sad that being dead seems easier. Not dieing just not existing. It has less to do with being a nightowl more to do with depression, with insecurity. At one point or multiple we ask ourself "is this what I wanted" or "how can it ever be better than this pain" and ""how can I "heal"/be happy/love myself". He captures that feeling so well. But than it was and can be his emotion again. Thank you for enjoying our "Moonchild"'s voice. You nice! Keep going!

Hi Bryan 👋 Glad you enjoyed Moonchild. I 100% agree with all the compliments you made about RM. Basically RM is a Poet. I love how this song can be interpreted in different and personal ways to everyone and I feel like anyone can see themselves as a 'Moonchild' however and whenever they need to. "Somebody who is more introspective, a person that goes against the grain of society, a Moonchild." - I love this thought and youve basically summed up how I feel and what the song means to me. I always have and do feel so out of place and different (socially, compared to others, find it hard to connect with people etc), thats just me (or so ive come to realise / am continuously trying to accept) and the lyrics of the song make me feel seen. It can make me cry but it's a happy cry. Unless I'm around family or people I really know and am comfortable with, i always feel most comfortable being by myself. So for me there is the connection of feeling generally more comfortable at night (when the moon rises, like in the lyrics) when i can be at home, be myself and be relaxed, not in the busy day to day social world around others. You know like you get home and at the of the day there is just a weight lifted and any anxiety you have is gone. I love the chorus and the atmospheric production on the lyrics along with the visuals in this video. To me it's kind of anthemic, it's comforting and says its OK to be you, despite the flaws and differences you may see. You are you and you are beautiful, exactly as you are and exactly as your meant to be. - so that's Moonchild to me.🌕😌 I hope that if you listen / react to the rest of the Mixtape you consider doing it in order from the beggining. I think it's ok to do Mono first, but for a first listen to all the songs this is particularly important (to listen in order) to get the full experience, as the songs have a certain flow from one to the other. I think its seen more as a playlist than mixtape and its ideal to experience it as a whole from first to last song. The emotion in the songs definetly builds and intensifies throughout from the start to the end and the last song Forever Rain is very emotionally heavy. Even though all songs are great on their own, I don't think it would mean the same to just jump straight to the last song without working up to it and hearing the other songs that come before it first. Obviously you should experience it how you want, but just wanted to share my opinion. Also don't expect any real heavy rap or base on Mono. There are a lot of really deep, introspective lyrics, beautiful melodies, vocals and its more a gentle spoken word rap. Basically more of this same genius from RM. And there are really great features from other artists on a couple of the songs. If you enjoy the songs I really think you might have to make a different playlist for relaxing or reflecting (or whatever suits you) as they probably won't make your everyday playlist. 💜🎵😌

(not done with your vid, so maybe you touch on these things...) The way I relate to the concept of a "moonchild" isn't just someone active at night (though that fits me, too). It's an analogy for someone "comfortable" in the darkness. It connects to what I call my "core of sadness" - that sensitivity that clinical depression brings. (This is going to be incomplete and difficult to express coherently.) Depression may be from external events like grief, but when it is brain chemistry, irrational and out of one's control, the experience opens one's mind to all dark possibilities in the human experience. RM's acknowledgment of all the harsh realities is almost consoling. People with that eye-opening POV aren't alone. All the expressions like "if you're not angry you aren't paying attention" or lyrics in ON and AgustD's Strange that say you have to be crazy to stay sane in a crazy world - if someone doesn't understand those concepts, frankly, I think it likely they are sociopaths and lack empathy, or are in denial/out of touch/unable to process their emotions. There are too many people self-medicating with drugs and alcohol who say they are happy and nothing is wrong. People who are truly untouched by depression are unicorns. I only know one - my mother-in-law - and she is selfless and pure of heart in a way I can't even fathom. RM is consoling us and saying our knowledge is one of our strengths as well as our greatest cross to bear. Jeebus. I need to go watch some Run! BTS or something. 😅😭😂🤓
