This song often goes under the radar. I always think of Tae in their old videos, this skinny boy who they were trying to feed up so he gained some weight! Although he was funny and friendly he was just going with the flow and learning about the world and himself in front of our eyes. As Suga said, he thought Tae was putting on an act and wondered how someone could be like him until he realised that was Tae's genuine personality. Naïve but with no fear, like a child. And look at him now, the most handsome man in the world!💜

So "Inner Child" is a song to his younger self - to Taehyung of the past when he was a child who smilled so brightly and had these big dreams but the path to these dreams was so rough and full of doubts. V wants to comfort his younger self he "wants to give him a hug" and reassure him. The thing is many people are embarrassed of their past when they were kids but without that past we wouldn't be the people that we are today, people are constantly changing with time it's natural - so this song reminds us to apreciate and be gentle to our past self because it shaped us. Taehyung embraces his past struggles and gives hope to his past self and also to him of the present - "It's gonna be okay since the me of today is okay" "We gon' change". The term "inner child" is actually a psychological practice you can read about it more but the song is originated exactly from that

You probably have already received this recommendation before, but there's a Vlive where RM talks about each song in Map of the Soul 7 that he helped compose. He talks a bit about the galaxy thing, it's related to Taehyung's pretty unique perspective about the world. the best way to understand this song is listening to RM explaining it in his vlive, the smiling kid is V, the person tht not believe the galaxy is V who never saw a galaxy until their bon voyage n V super excited like a child n at tht time RM realized V personality, an innocent child, a person tht still have a 'child' in him even whn V grown up become an adult, suga also notice this V trait❤❤❤

as someone already said, I really recommend checking out his solo song "stigma" next as it does feel more like in his style. but one thing never changes - tae always talks about himself and his identity in his solos in bts albums.

I love how tae is just getting even better at singing, he keeps trying different things, in the beginning he used mostly his deep voice that is amazing, but he's also doing many high notes in the songs recently and I'm loving it

The one thing so unique about Tae's songs are how innocent and heartwarming the lyrics are, as you already saw his viewpoint in this song... i personally look for his songs for just pure bliss experience in the lyrical stories they provide. Well, you already reacted to two of his greatest works, but there are lot more and few of them being '4 o clock', winter bear, BLUE & GREY (which has lyrics by V sung by all of them) clearly shows how adorable and special his views are to life and things. I recommend all the three songs the most. And yeah, it was nice listening to your own view of the lyrics... won't we all interpret the songs how we feel so yeah good going. Thankyou.

This song is basically taehyung talking to his younger self. When he said I used to not believe in galaxies, but I actually saw the silver galaxy, for me, is like him saying he never thought what they achieved could have ever happened, but he now tells his young self that he saw better things that he never even imagined :) Also galaxies are often referenced in BTS songs. In the song Magic Shop, they tell ARMY that there's a galaxy inside each one of us, a certain greatness inside us all. You'll also see this in the song Mikrokosmos. :)

Also, since they often reference galaxies in songs they dedicate to ARMY, I can't help but think that they draw inspiration from how they see ARMYs with their ARMY bombs on stage, like galaxies shining for BTS. If you look at this from BTS' perspective, Taehyung saying 'You just have to look at my galaxies, You just have to be showered by those stars" is like him telling his old struggling self to just look at us, their very own stars with army bombs in tough times, because that's what he did back then 😊 But that's just my interpretation!

On hindsight, it can also be that the galaxies he should be looking at is his own inner greatness and inner strength (like how galaxies were referred to in Magic Shoop). You see, BTS lyrics are always so poetically done and layered, there's so much room for interpretation from wherever perspective you want to look at it. This is why I watch your reactions because you take time to look into their lyrics which for me is BTS' strongest asset that you don't really often see in a lot of songs today 😊

Taehyung writing a song and singing it to his younger 'self' is such an intimate feeling 💕 How he is consoling his inner child that he is happy now. How he is confessing that remembering about the little Taehyung's happiness makes him smile now. V had kind of a rough childhood. His family was poor and his parents had to go away to work and left him to be raised mostly by his grandmother on her farm. I’m sure it must have been lonely, and he would have missed and worried about his parents a lot. This is him trying to send a message of hope and encouragement to that child version of himself that things in his life will get better, and that the doubtful future is actually bright for them. (And by them I mean him.)

Can't wait for your deep dive in Taehyung's work, out of all of his solos "Inner Child" is the least one that represents his style yet the lyrics is him talking to himself and telling himself it's ok. Originally he wanted the lyrics to be "we won't change" but RM change it to "we gon change" to give more hope, boy 😭 that like broke me cause we didn't want him to change at all 💔 The lyrics has many references to Tae's life, like the late night walks and seeing the galaxy for the first time, his younger all smiling self 🥺 Even though musically it isn't the strongest nor the one the really represents him the lyrics hit the hardest

The photo in the lyric video is from "Winter Bear" MV, that one he wrote it, compose it and directed the MV, he gave it out as a gift to ARMY on 1000th day of "I purple you" creation and also the day after he told us about his grandmother's death, and the lyrics and MV for that song are speculated to be about her as well.

Winter bear is not about his grandma, He got the inspiration from an old hollywood movie scene. Taehyung himself told about the movie and the scene that inspired him.

In the song Inner Children, it is Tae who meets a child Tae who is with his past. It is the Tae of today meeting the Tae of yesterday so that the Tae of tomorrow can be born and together the 3 Tae past, present and future seeking happiness.

I'm a therapist and I studied the lyrics of this song in a therapeutic way, linking Tae's life and his personal maturation There is a technique that resembles regression and in the music he reports very direct things that are achieved in these specific therapies. I don't know if he did this therapy and reported the experience in music. I believe so.

Generally whenever BTS refers to stars or galaxies they are referring to ARMY, because ARMY bombs look like stars in concert. He is most likely, given his feelings about ARMY, saying to himself everything is going to be ok because we have ARMY in the future.

Well i like this song a lot You pick a live where u can't see that at the end when you hear a "messy" chorus that this chorus was in fact Army who where all singing through their own screen. Lot of Army were kinda bit ashamed because it sounded a bit messy. I think V noticed it and he tried to sing over them but (unfortunately once again) his mic's sound was not well balanced so WE can barely hear him vocalizing over Army chorus. On an other live u can actually see all those Army at the end and V was wearing exactly the same outfit as this kiddo.

Probably one of my favourite songs from the solo stuff. It brings such a warm and hopeful feeling to me everytime I hear it. Real bummer is that the production of Map of the Soul online concert completely butchered mixing of the actual mics and backing vocals like at 18:20. You can clearly see them singing live but in some performances it is almost impossible to hear that, because level of volume like 3 times lower than backing track for no reason.

This might be an unpopular opinion but of all of Tae's solos, this is possibly my least favourite, he has so much vocal talent and this performance doesn't do it justice, now "Stigma" is the complete opposite, in my opinion.

Not really, this is one of taehyung's most prominent vocal performances. Just because there isn't that one hight note for the shock factor or if he is not using his falsettos all the time, doesn't mean it doesn't do his ability justice. You can see that he has improved like crazy in this performance. This is not a super easy song to sing. He needs to be able to make people feel.
