My son and I have been wearing the Mobius X8 for almost a year now and are very happy with them. They are comfortable and we feel give excellent support and protection. Both of ours have some pretty big gashes on them from going down and neither of us have had a single scratch or tweak to our knees. My son actually broke the dial on his from an impact with his peg, we called Mobius and got a new one. We have not tried any other brand but with as happy as we have been with the Mobius I don't know if we ever will. We will not ride without them. Only advise I can give is spend the money and get knee braces before an injury. The pipe can wait. Thank you RM ATV/MX for all the great reviews and information.

my experience with the mobius is complete opposite from you. the knee joint snags my pants almost every time i bend my knee, making it impossible to fully extend my legs and stand up un till i wiggle my legs to fix it. its extremely annoying. and the foam on mine are perfect even after 5 years of heavy usage. i do like the mobius, im just so tired of my knee catching on the pants every time i stand up

A little note to the C-frame, I felt like the knee impact protection wasn't good enough, so I took inspiration from the x-frame and bought the AirFlex Hybrid knee pad and wore that under the c-frame So i mad a hybrid from the c-frame and the x-frame hybrid, So a c-frame hybrid xD

I love my Asterisk Carbon Cell. I'm only 173cm tall but my legs are bigger than XL(or even XXL) of Leatt, POD and Alpinestars because of weightlifting background. Asterisk, on the other hand, has probably the largest XL in these knee braces, and fit my legs perfectly. And especially Carbon Cell is shorter and more low profile than Ultra Cell, and that makes it perfect knee braces for guys with larger legs. Only downside is that they include only one paddings for adjusting knee width. If I am right, they have to be snug fit. I use paddings from my unused Leatt XXL X-Frame.

Of all the braces I've worn, the Alpinestars Bionic 10 is the thinnest and the Asterisk Carbon Cell is second. I ironmanned the Baja 1000 in the Mobius. Extremely comfortable. My only complaint is the velcro tabs on the straps can tear off (twice for me) if the seam where it transitions from "loop" to scratchy "hook" is resting on the buckle when you cinch it down. Adjust it to avoid this. Otherwise phenomenal brace and I have hundreds of hours in mine. Oh, and the best Asterisk Cell were the older ones with the corset-style laces. Most comfortable ever. I left Asterisk after the next 2 generations didn't fit as well.

I did experience what you're talking about a few times. Chase, I just purchased the Carbon Cell 1 pro version. I'm literately right in between a size small and medium. I ordered the size small because I didn't want the braces to be sloppy, but they feel horrible there is no way a $950 brace should feel like this. Would you recommend going to the medium? Also the hinge does not glide well at all, will they start to glide/flex better while bending the leg after riding in them a few times? Walking around the house they hinder walking and knee bend more than my current $150 dollar cheap braces. Thanks Chase
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc Ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that they're not feeling that great. How is it they feel horrible? As for the hinges not gliding well, I don't notice that at all when I'm riding and don't hinder my knee from bending. You could try going up a size and see how they feel. Is it just at the knee that they don't feel good? If not, then the next size up might not be the answer. Have you seen the new POD K8 3.0? It's an all-new brace and seems to be really nice. Not as light as the Asterisk, but very well built seem to be comfortable. I haven't ridden in them yet but plan to soon! - Chase

@rmatvmc They sit more towards the front of my knee cap and don't really wrap around and sit on the side of my knee like my previous Braces. Also right about the knee cap they are so tight around my leg that I can hardly velcro them. I think I'm gonna try the size up. As for the hinge I wonder if they just didn't glide well due to them being to small?

@@Dixiecraftsman I hear ya. I do know that the new POD sits farther back on the knee like you're explaining. It's not quite as low-profile as the Carbon Cell but it is shorter. As for the hinge, I don't know if it's too small or not. I'd have to really see it.

make a brace with a pad inside contact point for the point of contact on the bike. no grip on motorcycle with hard plastic or steel. needs to be a soft grip contact at motorcycle for grip. this is the exact reason i stick with pads instead. better control and less chance of injuries with better control.

Which one is thinest at the inside hinge? PODS are thick at the hinge with only a small surface area of solid plastic for the knees to hold onto the bike with. The way pods give foam adjustment shims of different thickness does not fix this because there isn't enough surface area under the foam. Also the foam shims don't stay in place. I had to glue mine into place for them to stay. Ridiculous!
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 11 ай бұрын
The Asterisk Carbon Cell and the Mobius are the two that I would say have the slimmest hinge design. The Alpinestars are also very thin, but they are on discontinued and won't be around much longer, which means you'll have a tough time getting parts for them if something were to fail. They do have a new knee brace coming out, but not sure when we'll see it. - Chase

Not a fan of how Asterisk dumbed down their kneecap protection. I have the 2021 Ultra Cell 2.0 and the knee protection is far superior. The new webbing attachment system is a cheap ass way to cut production costs, and imo results in a less protective knee guard.

Unfortunately, no pads can protect against torsional injuries. The manufacturers claim that their braces will provide protection, but... Technically speaking, the protection will be there, but it will be very little, I estimate that it will reduce the rotational force by a maximum of one unit ‰, maybe less. But it won't have any practical impact, so it's just a marketing ploy. They then charge a few hundred percent extra for these fractions of ‰.... The manufacturers know very well, never! state how much the rotational force can be reduced by the protectors. They would have to admit that we don't get anything tangible for our money. From my point of view and after wearing them and after some injuries, quality knee pads will do same job for a fractoin of the braces cost.
