Wear the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex every day at work (Motor Cop) and love them. Is becoming the boot of choice for most Motor Units riding BMW’s. Like them so much, I even have a pair for personal use on my Adv bike.

I'm tossed up between the Adv2's and the Gaerne G-Dakars, riding an R1150GS. Why do the BMW cops like the Sidis?

@@dayneeastman1316 I own both the Sidi and the Gaerne and I find the Sidi better for walking around commuting while the Gaerne has a stiffer sole and the boot as a whole feels stiffer, so leans a bit more towards dirt riding. Both are Gore-Tex so I have had no issues in the rain.

The Gaerne Fastback Enduro paired with a pair of tall waterproof socks is combo get never let me down. Every easy to dry, and not as hot as the waterproof boots on hot days where you don't need to wear the waterproof socks.

@ boots are made of microfiber. There is a piece of leather on the inside on the boots to not scratch up your bike / burn your leg.

My fastback Enduro have been awesome and I can say they are comfortable. I'd rather wear them then my work shoes lol.

If you are doing any serious ADV riding its best to wear Motocross boots , ADV boots just simply don't offer enough protection. I recommend SIDI Crossfire TA or Gaerne SG12/22

I've never found a boot with an adequately sized toe box. These boots look like some real toe squeezes.

I bought the Tech 7 Drystars from you after waring Forma adventure boots. The Tech 7's once broken in are fantastic. I highly recommend them. They are bone dry and I can walk around with no problem. It's nice to know you have real protection

IMO marketing the Forma Adventures as off-road boots is akin to malpractice. I had two pairs and they’re not the least bit protective. Also, both of the pairs I owned failed at being waterproof within the one-year warranty period.

Virtually any boot that has "ADV" in it's name, tends to be a floppy comfortable boot, made to be stylish not protective. If you can grab a boot and bend it sideways at the ankle? Your leg and ankle are bracing the boot......if its all leather or 80% leather once it breaks in it will be a floppy boot.

Alpinestar makes an ADV boot called a Toucan, its between moto and ADV and is a very beefy boot. I found a set on ebay used, but look to be never worn...like they look and smell new. Goofy name for sure but they work really well. For actual thrashing on the 690 I use some Tech-7's. The Toucan is a Gore-Tex boot, and runs well over 450.00 full price. I got a pair for 200.00. The tread on some of these, the more tread the more chance you snag a foot if you have to slap a foot down. You would rather your boot slid fairly easily.

Fastback enduro is very comfortable, 3 days ago I walked around in long grass for 2 miles in them without a problem. On the bike they are comfortable in all conditions, never have my feet become wet.

@ I’m more than happy with the quality and choice of materials. Once they are broken in, which includes very detailed cleaning and using several cleaning and care agents, the squeaking stops and the ongoing care is almost zero. But you do need to spend time pampering them to begin with. Despite the upper not being leather I used beef tallow, rubbing it into every nook and cranny possible. It has been a success.

I have a pair of older Sidi Adventure boots that I wear when I’m mostly on the road. I started thinking about my age and upped the safety level with a pair of the AlpineStars Tech 7 Enduros, just like you have in the video. They are an awesome boot. A bit squeaky, but awesome.

Fastback Enduro have been awesome. very comfortable and run true to size. If you have large calves they are a bit tight but if you buckle before Velcro then they go on just fine.

I’ve got the Sidi adventure boots and a pair of Sidi Crossfire’s. The adventure boots are great around town but the soles aren’t nearly stiff enough to stand up for any length of time. I consider them pavement and very light off road boots because of that. If I’m doing any real dirt riding I wear the Crossfires

Thanks for sharing! I rode in the Adventure II on a four day ride in Death Valley and stood up quite a bit and I thought the stiffness was pretty good, but yeah, a moto boot probably would've been ideal, but we also walked around a bit so I needed best of both worlds. Thanks for sharing! - Chase

I like the Alpinestar Toucan Gore -Tex. Forma's offer only abrasion protection. The SIDI do not offer much ankle twist protection as I can bend them in my hands.

The Toucans are great, lighter than Tech-7's but a fairly strong really well made water proof boot.

I had some Gaerne Dakar boots, with the hinge on the outside wrapping around the boot. A 12 was actually an 11. A bummer. When I stood up in them it was obvious the sole had no support, thin sole and a weak shank.....I could feel the boot wrapping around the footpeg. They look cool though, and were sold off quickly.

The Gaerne fastback enduro is microfiber, NOT premium leather. The tag inside the boot with the size says microfiber.

The Forma boots are super comfortable. People keep saying that they don’t offer enough protection. That’s simply because those people know that there are other boots on the market that offer more protection. It’s not because Forma’s are not way better than a work boot, because they do far surpass that level of protection. They are far superior to any type of road or touring type boots as well, so they do fit into the dual sport market. Some people just don’t need MX level of protection. To say that marketing Forma boots as off road boots should be considered malpractice is just silly. Additionally, mine have never leaked so far in the 2-3 years I’ve worn them. I’ve walked through water and mud, and submerged my foot, but nothing deeper than the ankle, so I’m not going to speak for that.

If you ever have a situation where you need those formas to save your ankle, they wont do a thing. Grab the boot and see how easy it can be bent sideways at the ankle. Like a leather slipper. .....things happen on motorcycles no matter how well mannered the ride.....saying "I dont need protection".......you just never know.

Every forum I go to, I find someone saying that they don’t need proper riding boots to ride their dual sport because they have a pair of utility boots that work just fine. If you think that the Forma ADV motorcycle boots aren’t any better than utility boots, you simply don’t know what your talking about. The reason people ride in utility boots is generally because they think that they can’t afford a proper riding boot, which is not true because Forma’s are priced about the same as most utility boots. So instead of wasting your energy arguing over riding boots with a season MX rider, who’s been retired and riding dual sports for another 25 years, why don’t you direct your efforts towards someone who’s still thinks riding in work boots is acceptable? , and let them know that there are safer options out there at an affordable price. I know the risk that I’m taking when I choose to wear what I wear. Go educate someone who really needs advice.

Reached out to Astars and the confirmed that the old tech 7 sole will not work with the new version. However, they have an enduro version of the new tech 7 coming spring/summer. - Chase

I got a set of Alpinestars Tech 7 enduro drystar at the beginning of 2024. They were not at all waterproof, since then I have had them replaced 3 times and every time they get less water resistant. This is in Europe - anyone having the same experience? Now I'm trying to get them to give my money back and I will probably get a set of Tech 7 NON drystar and use waterproof socks.

Do not buy the sidi adventure boots unless you like paying for a glued on sole with fake stitching, on a premium boot. Mine came unglued in less than a year 😢

The introductory boots that he showed particularly the Forma ADV boots are more comfortable than most of my work boots, and they offer way more protection than your utility boots. I can speak on utility boots because I’ve only operated heavy equipment for 40 years and I’ve owned just about every brand on the market. I also raced MX in the 90s and I can tell you that ADV boots are way more comfortable. My Forma boots feel like crocks in the souls! But they offer way more ankle protection than any work boot.
