I have built a live rock band stage act around this device . I run my bass lines through 1 channel and my drum tracks through the other , keeping signal paths separate. Drum out to PA bass out to massive 750 watt bass amp driving 2 4x10 cabs. This rig makes me sound better than any of the forgettable bands I was in and out of. I am effectively a 1 man band consisting of vocal , guitar , drums And bass. I don’t use the onboard drums . I Import my own drum machines and programs. I also have the equiv boss model , but found this has way more memory and allowance to shift tempo with no pitch change. I run my guitar through my amp only . PA. Is just drums and vocals and sounds incredible

I'm a beginner and I know that I jumped into the frying pan by buying this beast instead of going with the "Unibuttom" one but to break a horse you need patience and practice. Thanks to videos and people like you Rich with the knowledge and the way for TEACHING in a simple and understandable manner. My pedal when pressed goes straight to solid red. I doesn't "Armed" like stated in the video. Due to this issue what I'd been doing is pressing & holding the pedal until I'm ready to record.
@rmenga

Solid red on switch press would indicate Auto Record is off and Pedal Tempo is off, both of which are global functions of the JamMan Solo XT

My favorite pedal by far. When coupled with a trio it's amazing for practice. I filled up the sd card with blues tracks (bass, drums, guitar). Great to work on solo work without having to loop your own Rythm and get the trio going. Those two pedals are darn near a must for improving.
@thetrout529
@thetrout529 6 жыл бұрын
Start The Rebellion not in the sense of them talking to each other. But easy solution......play your them loop into the jamman. Arm the trio and the jamman plays while he trio learns and plays with the rythem you played into the jamman. Good enough for me. If looking for perfect sync then the trio plus is the way to go but at $299 and already having the jamman my solution works great (got the trio for $49). Also with the sd storage on the jamman I got 99 rythem backing loops already saved and the sd card protect on so I don't over write them.

So you save the drums and bass tracks from the trio into the jam man? Storage
@thetrout529

wme714 thats one way to do it. I actually put a sd card in computer and loaded backing tracks on it. I then slid the protector switch on SD card so it doesnt get over written. The SD card holds 99 tracks. I can the load Jamman tracks into the internal memory (up to another 99 tracks).

when i press it one more time at 8:07, i get a red light instead of the flashing armed light... gone through the steps several times ... i must be missing something it is def. set to off
@redpaul101
@redpaul101 3 жыл бұрын
It's because it's not just that 'Pdl' (Pedal tempo) that needs to be set to 'off', but also that 'Arc' (Automatic record) that needs to be set to 'on' (according to the manual, it's set to 'off' by default - maybe it was 'on' on RM's unit & he hadn't noticed). The solid red light means that the unit's already recording, btw: i.e., it started recording as soon as you hit the pedal. If 'Pdl' is on, it enables you, as RM does rightly note, to use the pedal to tap out a tempo (shown via a light on the Tempo button - flashing red for the first beat in the bar & green thereafter), _but_ that means that you can't then simply tap the foot pedal to arm the unit: you have instead to _hold_ the pedal down (not just tap it) to arm it, signalled by the 'Tempo' light briefly flashing orange. The unit then starts recording automatically at the start of the next measure (the 'Record' light will flash green on the beat, then go solid red as recording begins). If you do want to use Tempo with Arc (say as a metronome), just use the 'tpo' settings in 'Setup' (as well as 'Pdl' being off, make sure that rHY - rhythm - is set to 'on', or you won't hear a beat, no matter what 'Rhythm Level' is dialled to). Once you've set your tempo, press 'Store' twice to save it in loop memory. If 'Tempo' is flashing but Arc is 'off', recording will begin at the start of the next measure as in para. 2 above. To clear the tempo from the loop, hold down 'Store' until 'Erl' (Erase loop) appears. Confirm by holding down 'Store' in response to 'E?'.

Digitech put this pedal out as one may know by now,..quite awhile ago but,..that commented,..it’s still worth having today! (2021) A real cool one to work with if ya’ take the time to study it! The fact that it features Stereo IN & OUT is an awesome feature! Along with the Aux input,..Micro SD Card USB and JamSync,...one can create in ways you see fit. My advice is also to invest in the Digitech FS3X Footswitch as well to take advantage of all the features for however you’ll put the JamMan SoloXT to use! I use mine with the Digitech RP360 Multi FX Unit,. Bass Synth Wah pedal & the SDrum!! 👌🏾Cool lil’ Stereo Looper imo❗️✨🎶🎸🎛👍🏾😎 Rock ‘n Funk On Yawl‼️🤘🏾 Very informative video upload Rich! A+!! ✌🏾😎

This is, by far, the single most difficult pedal to use I have owned. I have never owned a pedal where you essentially have to read the manual for basic operation. Now that I spent like half an hour reading the directions I can do basic operations on it. Lots of features on this, not knocking the pedal, but I hate having to buy guitar gear where you have to sit around learning how to use it. If you just need basic looping go for the JamMan Express, else be prepared for a learning curve.

Fun fact: There is a "Looping Quickstart" sticker under the pedal. But aside from that, both the DigiTech JamMan Solo XT and BOSS RC-3 Loop Station are advanced for what they are. If you want easy, you get the BOSS RC-1 instead.

Hi, I followed your instructions to auto record but it won't start ... auto record is on , and pedal is off. It's like it can't hear any signal yet sound is going through the Jamman to the amp ... Any ideas ?
@rmenga
@rmenga 5 жыл бұрын
Loop Level knob has to be up to at least 12 o'clock to hear anything from the pedal, and if it is but you still hear nothing after recording a loop, check the Auto Record global setting. This is detailed on page 50 of the English manual. If it still doesn't work, follow the instructions on page 16 of the English manual. And if it _still_ doesn't work after that, perform a pedal reset and try again, instructions for that are on page 60 of the manual.
@allbeit582
@allbeit582 5 жыл бұрын
@@rmenga Yes the loop level is up and I checked the global settings but what's happening is the red LED doesn't change from flashing to solid when I start playing. Might have to do a reset then....So does the loop level act as input or output control ? meaning does it boost the guitar input signal or boost the pedal output signal ?
@allbeit582
@allbeit582 5 жыл бұрын
@@rmenga Yep it's working now. Thank you ....Just one more question : Does your book have a troubleshooting section ?
@rmenga
@rmenga 5 жыл бұрын
Not really, the book is written more to be a faster operational guide. But on the plus side, the issue you just fixed with your JamMan is pretty much the worst problem you would encounter. The only other thing that would cause problems is "dirty" power from a stage environment. To defeat that, use a proper power conditioner strip like the Furman SS6B.

You can try a Factory Restore (reset), which you can do yourself. How to do this is located on page 60 of the English manual - however - if using a memory card, I suggest removing it before performing the reset. The reset will delete all existing loops, restore pedal settings to how it was when new, and put back the original factory 15 loops. Once that is done, go to loop location 16 on internal memory (the first 15 will be in use) and try the instructions I gave you again.

Can you do seamless drone loops by recording a blank loop first like my ditto? Cheers.
@rmenga
@rmenga 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can record silence and then do the drone thing with the JamMan. In fact, you can do it better compared to simple loopers because you can exact-time your blank loop with a click track, then just turn the click track down so all you hear is the drone sound once finished to your liking.

i looked this up cause someone had one for trade and i was all exited. but then i watched the video and realized that i would through it through the fucking wall because i am not patient enough and way to fucking stupid for this thing. you have to have allot of time on your hands to deal with that crap. i play out acoustic and need a looper and this pedal would never flow with playing live with people waiting around to dance. craziness. thanx brodie. you saved me a ton of bullshit

An easier looper to get along with for those that don't need the advanced features of the DigiTech JamMan Solo XT or BOSS RC-3 is the BOSS RC-1. That looper is specifically designed to be user-friendly with very easy operation.

Loved your video and how easy and to the point. Is this a one time set up or do you have to repeat the set up after unplugging the device or power a failure?

There are both global settings and loop attribute settings on the JamMan. The manual does give a quick chart on page 41 describing which are which. The JamMan will keep global settings the moment you save them. If power is lost after that save, you get them back when power is applied again. Loop attributes are saved on a per-loop basis, so as long as the loop is saved, settings are kept even if a power failure happens. If you happen to live somewhere where you get power flashes often enough to be concerned about it, the solution is to use a cheap UPS power brick. That will ensure that power to the pedal is never lost if power flashes are frequent.

Thanks you so much Rich! you have solve me a issue from a long time ago, now defently i´m going to buy it! "From the moment that the pedal pick up audio it will start recording, the blinking light will pass to solid". Pisas el pedal en modo grabación y la luz roja parpadea, y solo empieza a graba cuando el pedal recibe audio, en ese momento la luz pasa de parpadear a quedarse permanente.

Great tutorial. What I don't understand is why wouldn't Digitech use output # 2 as a rhythm/loop output...... like the Jamman Stereo? The Solo XT would've became the "End All Be All" of loopers and would've made the Jamman stereo obsolete. Oh, I guess I answered my own question. Digitech has to continue to make money off the other product. O.k. so, I bought the ZooM R8. My bad.

Yes it would have been nice to get the Rhythm Out feature that the JamMan Stereo has, but even without it, Solo is still a very good looper and a better value than the BOSS Loop Station RC-3 (you don't even get a power supply included with BOSS, that costs extra).

Appreciate the tutorial videos - I have a problem I'm trying to figure out- normally I just hit the pedal with my foot to start recording immediately - PDL is on - now when I try to record I have to tap tempo in and hold down pedal to start and it counts me in 4, how do I undo this? thanks..

Hey Rich, I bought your download. Just wondering, Is it necessary to download firm ware? Mine's still in version right out of the box.

Thanks, much appreciated. DigiTech has not released any firmware updates for the JamMan Solo XT as far as I'm aware. If you're referring to the JamManager XT v2.3.5 software, that's not firmware but rather librarian software that runs on a PC or Mac. You do not need the software to use the pedal; it's optional.

Just found your channel...you are good! Your videos are also good. Did the jamman XT you have come with some factory loops, in the onboard memory? A further look at this pedal by you would be very helpful. I found so far the pedal is not all that difficult to operate. I will use mine for backing tracks and some live looping. I bought it for the reason it has a sd card to store and endless amount of loops. When a card is full, just change cards, which filling a 32 gb card may take a while. Another aspect of this pedal, since it is stereo, it is a virtual recording studio. With the ability to layer sound on sound as many times as needed, and with some careful balancing of levels, one could create a "Wall of Sound"! If only these would have been around in the 70s, Phil Spector would not have used a big recording studio! Thankz
