@@rmkvisions I wore them to work and only one person noticed them haha. They're that nice you can wear them as casual clothes and nobody is going to day you're wearing hiking boots or cop shoes...except for that one experienced coworker of mine. Honestly the neutrality was my favorite part. My left calf had some pain walking first thing in the morning but the more I wore them the more accustomed I got them. I have arthritis in my left and didn't wear my brace with them. I think the Merrell Moab 2 is a lot comfier, but it doesn't over the benefits of zero drop that these have. I would recommend these if you're interested in strengthening smaller/different muscles in your legs. My two cents. I'm not a pro but I definitely like them. Biggest con is they made a weird sound whenever the toe box folded mid step. It might be just because they're still new.

I think I have a preference for the mid height purely for the prevention of cold ankles. Being at my desk a lot in a chilly student house during lockdown has made it the bane of my existence.

New subscriber here. Nice informative breakdown, thanks. QoD: I Definitely prefer the "boot" style as opposed to the low cut. Once you get accustomed to the ankle support feel, its hard to go back - especially if these manufacturers keep putting more running shoe characteristics into their hiking shoes/boots.

Not a fan of waterproofing , but I have the All Weather and they do breathe well. I have two pair of LP5’s and am waiting for REI to call about these boots. Thanks for the review.

I have a pair of these, and my impressions so far are pretty positive. Did 28km in them (rocky trails, some very steep hills) the other day, and they were pretty comfortable even though it was only the second time wearing them (one minor sore spot on my big toe, but I think that's probably because I needed to wear them a little bit tighter and keep my foot in place better). I kind of wish they had gone for the same more breathable upper as the regular Lone Peaks, and added more drainage - but I could still feel the breeze on my toes at times, so not *too* bad from that point of view.

Can you feel the small rocks through the sole? I’m looking for a replacement for the Timp 2 for walking over dirt and paved walking paths. Thanks for the video! I have Lowa boots for hiking. Thanks for making this video!

@rmkvisions 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say you can necessarily feel them but this is not gonna be as sturdy Of a boot as the Lowa would be. You definitely won’t feel rocks in that boot compared to this Altra

@@rmkvisions I’m just tired of stepping on small rocks and feeling them in the heel of the Timps because there’s only EVA in the middle of the heel. I might try the Lone Peaks. Thanks for the reply!

Does the fact that its a mid boot give it some ankle support? I mean logic tells me yes, but it looks so soft. I'm always afraid of rolling my ankle with low shoes and it's the reason I can't get the Lone Peak.

What would you recommend for a winter running shoe? Usually a go for waterproof Trail running shoes, I don't necessarily want studded because of price and limited use. Ps: keep up the reviews they super good at helping me sell shoes up in Montreal!

Is the Altra Lonepeak Hiker more narrow in the footbox than Altra Lonepeaks? People are trying to convince a friend of mine that they are. But I don't have a store near me to confirm

I do like it, it is very similar to the long peak five which I think is good. However - I think it is a bit too light wait for me and if I were to use a med I think I’d rather have more of a boot style. This feels a weird role between A trail running shoes and a boot, I guess it just depends on what you were looking for

@@rmkvisions Nice. Thank you sir. I am going to try a pair for my trail walks, and then likely some Crispi boots, probably Summits or Crossovers, for off-the-beaten paths and hunting/scouting.

Low cut shoes pick up more sand that seeps into the shoe so I prefer high tops.

I really wouldn’t recommend this for running at all. I believe so lone peak flow would be a much better option the foam feels different along with the more rigid heal in the mid I think we end up being a bad decision when striking

@@rmkvisions I'm leaning this way too...have always had heavy durable boots (combat boot background). Do these lighter shoe options do ok with ~40lbs backpack or will I be wishing I had stronger shoes/boots on mile 50 of a 70 mile High Sierra Trail route?
@rmkvisions
@rmkvisions 3 жыл бұрын
I have no problem with lighter boots, however this is 100% a subjective question. Weak ankles, knee issues, etc may give you problems with 40+ pounds. I love them though
