I'm always fascinated to come back and look at this video. He was still only 8-9 months into the PM job at this point and clearly already had a reputation for keeping his entire party on a leash, but still seemed more than comfortable projecting a sense of personality on a comedy show like this. I wonder if he not only saw no benefit to things like this, but almost saw it as counterproductive to projecting a "dull but effective" personality.

He was a very competent PM but people just like a change now and then. The first Trudeau only just squeaked by in his first election in the early 1970's after becoming PM. Harper was also not comfortable in the limelight. I suspect he is an introvert. He is happier closeted with his cabinet than in front of cameras, so he did not come across as an easy going guy. Shame, because I think that Canadians are going to understand eventually that he was way more dedicated to his job than Trudeau, who spends too much time with his family or on vacations somewhere. The top job is very demanding.
@CandaEH7 жыл бұрын
He's introverted and doesn't like to deal with people. As such he's extremely reserved and closed off to the world. People interpret this as undemocratic which he didn't help by introducing omni bus bills to parliament, and avoiding the press.

-›Ethan Ngai: if we’re going to be hyper-critical, they also should have changed his shirt … he’s wearing the same shirt he wore `yesterday`? But it was a good bit, face it: it was funny! It worked. I liked it. He’s got a good fall-back career for when the politics thing doesn’t work out for him. I’m not getting into politics in this comment, but, it’s nice to see his human side now and then. It reminds one that he actually might just _be_ one of us. A real, live, human being, a guy with a wife, and a couple of kids to worry about. This most definitely was scripted, but compare this to Harper (or the others) in Parliament (which you’d better believe is scripted). That’s probably _why_ we perceive politicians as `stiff`, they have their talking points, they have their lines, and you can have a cow literally walk through the middle of the building, and they’ll still stick to their talking points, cow, or no cow. It’s what they do, it’s what they’re paid to do, and it’s maddening. When’s the last time you laughed at Harper in Parliament? I know Parliament isn’t a comedy club, but still, sometimes it’s just torture.

This was funny. Political donations should be limited including financial benefits to family members suvh ad spouses, children, siblings or parents. This should be law at all levels of governments from municipal, provincal and federal levels. Doug Ford or his daughter invited developers to his daughters wedding and most if those same developers received inside information and land removed from protection. Wish Rock Mercer was still doing the show to call Doug Ford out. Harper would of been better if he had not brought in income splitting for wealthy people, cut funding to veterans, favored corporations, lied about our decifit. At least he lived in the house provided without demanding millions in upgrades, millions in rwnovations to a cottage at tax payor expence line Trudeau has, Harper was tougher in crime and didnot offer race credits to offender's especially those found guilty of violent crimes, sex crimes and child abuse. Trudeau favors Quebec ovet all other provinces.
