I had to call the EMS once when I thought I was having a heart attack. (Turns out it was an anxiety attack) afterwards I made a basket and put all kinds of goodies in it along with a card thanking them and dropped it off at the ER. It was the least I could do. These people are real, ACTUAL heroes.

It was in the New Westminster. And these guys here are studying PCP. And I think 3 years for you guys is the complete training. o-o

@Dream Girls Daily Please don't be so naive. Just because its a show does not for a second mean that all of Rick Mercers' actions were acceptable or tolerated by the training academy. From the moment Rick put his stethoscope up to the instructor's neck, I could feel the tension arising. Speaking as a Paramedic in Ontario, this was very hard to watch, laws were broken, he did not come to a complete stop at a red light, and lights and sirens are not a toy. Every time you activate lights and sirens, you put you, your partner, your patient, and everyone else's lives on the road at risk. It is to be used in emergency situations only and to depict that it was funny to activate lights and sirens to a KFC is utterly disrespectful to the job.

What are the differences between Paramedics from the US and Canada? I'm in a Paramedic program right now and we have 7-10 week semesters. 2 semesters are Basic EMT, 1 semester each for EMT-Specialest, Cardology, Pathophisiology, Assessment, and Pediatric. So I am curious at what level the Canadian Paramedics are. Do the start IV's? Ect. Funny video!!! I rarely drink coffee and I don't drink "sports drinks" either! lol Glad I am not the only one!
@crazeyes929 жыл бұрын

And technically all they do when they arrive first is apply the "stare of life". And technically that is because the incredibly bloated fire budget takes away from the emergency services that actually NEED the money to hire more paramedics. Number of fire calls going down...number of fire fighters going up. Number of ambulance calls going up....number of paramedics going down. See where there is an issue?

@Englishmen959 жыл бұрын
Awful Aim lol you don't know what you are talking about! yes there are 2 dollar and hour stations there is no denying that, but it isn't for life.. when a paramedic joins BC Ambulance as an EMR (Which is what i am) you work at a rural station making 2 dollars an hour waiting for a call, but then when i go back to school to become a PCP, i will then have enough seniority to maybe go and work in Vancouver! a PCP in Vancouver is making AT LEAST 27 an hour to start.. then it gets better, the more years you do the more your pay goes up, some paramedics in Vancouver working alpha shifts are on 32 and hour plus! if you can get through the years of 2 bucks an hour, and get yourself into Vancouver, you can have a very successful career financially for BC Ambulance.
@asdfqewr18 жыл бұрын
+Mike Rowe LOOOL Your reply is incorrect. You will be sent back to $2/hour Kilo shift until you gain a seniority of about 5 years or so before you can think of getting a station in a metro city where you work full time irregular shifts.

@asdfqewr18 жыл бұрын
Awful Aim Yes, I'm also a PCP so I would know but not employed by BCAS. It's not entirely JIBC's fault but BCAS and the applicant's lack of knowledge of how the system works. Are you by any chance working for BCAS or something Awful Aim?
