I went to the mint myself and asked them about the visit. The guide I had was on his day off the day Rick came but he said that everyone was so flustered because they didn't know how to react to Rick stealing the gold. And apparently that is actually the Mint's stapler. Nice Rick! :P

Not everything has to be serious. Rick did a great job of adding a little humour to the educational aspect of the show. Most of it isn't "childish behaviour", he makes a lot of intelligent jokes that many Canadians can understand and relate to.

@UtoPluc Like i said double strike on gold coins, The RCM makes pure gold coin, and gold without an alloy is softer then most metals so 1 time is usually enough. But what some Coin minting company will do is double stamp which means there making the coin proof which has more details then our own circulated set. They make proof coins specially for numismatics people like me. I collect anything from canadian coins to coins from USSR,Nazi Germany,Poland, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, Britain.

They are not buying the currency as such they are buying the gold. Gold has an intrinsic worth and is valued everywhere. Money, paper money or coins are only worth something because we say they are. Think about it if the organised governments collapsed tomorrow currency would be worthless but people would still value gold, silver, diamonds, etc.
