+slothboy494 well, some background....unlike you guys, we don't have 2 federal parties, we have 5. The conservatives (although about as liberal as your democrats), liberals, ndp, bq and green party (the far left). conservatives, liberals and ndp are all that matters, the other ones are too small. From 2006, we had a problem where none of the parties would win enough seat and basically the party with the most seat (conservatives) would have to create an alliance to run the country with another one of the parties. Basically the other party would agree to side with you and pass bills. Except....few months later, the parties would argue and coalition would be over and then it's back to the voting booth. Where the exact people would be elected and we'd be right where we started. This is what he was talking about, a Tory minority government. This lasted until 2006 until the conservatives were up against a very unlikable harvard professor as the liberal leader and a ndp leader with cancer (who ended up dying few months after the election). So conservatives won by a landslide and all this gridlock stopped. Our next election is next week, hopefully this does not happen again.
