Intereasting fact: the crew onboard the u-boat that sank the lusitania shot at the last moment. this was because, while they **were** under orders to shoot any targets carrying weapons and supplies, they were heavily split on disobeying that order since it was a civilian ship and had multiple passengers onboard even to the point of a fight almost breaking out onboard caused by some heavy arguments between two officers. the only reason they did shoot was because of the fear of a court martial and for being traitors and getting arrested and possibly executed for treason.

I can still remember the Italian coast guard screaming at him in colorful language to get his behind back on the ship. I think 36 people died...a crew member from Mumbai died. I knew the community he came from. He had been helping the passengers get off the ship but didn't make it in time for himself. He had gone back into the ship to look for more passengers and was never seen again.
