Hello Jack of all Trades :) Breath management is a huge deal when it comes to extreme vocal styles :) - I can not seem to find anyone doing it live, so I do believe that it is a bit of studio tricks going on, not that it would be impossible but can not find anyone doing it in a single breath, so there is probably a breath or two hidden in there :) All the best Søren Sedit, Headteacher at RMS VI

@@sorensedit7730 During DIckie's interview with Kardavox Academy he said it was in 1 take, and that all the airflow changes as he went deeper made it easier for him to hold than just one continuous technique. A cover by 'Dr. Hell' also demonstrated that it's definitely possible :) I definitely wouldn't be able to pull that off haha

If you’ve ever watched the princess bride, the bishop (“mawwige is what bwings us togevah today”) totally uses his tongue in this way to get that silly voice. Also the Chewbacca vocals are done using uvula rolls and this mouth shape and tongue technique.
@sorensedit7730
@sorensedit7730 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Nicholas :) There is no Uvula involved in this style :) there is such a thing as vowel placement, which is a different thing, on top of that I do not roll the tongue, because it would be a very different sound showing up :) for this style if will need the U shape throughout the phonation :) I do not know the reference you are mentioning but will look it up :) All the best! I'm not saying the video's creator is wrong, but I'd definitely recommend moving your tongue around to find different tones and such. I started doing tunnels with my mouth very open. Back of tongue to roof of mouth, still a u shape but not as extreme. Sounds more like dickie Allen when I do it that way.

Hello, I have difficulties getting that right U shape and keep it like this when putting the tip of the tongue, it just becomes flat, I get a very silly sound but can't really go all that low like you, that might be the U shape difference. Any tips ?

Tunnel throat isnt a distortion. Its a mouth position. Youre using false folds.
@sorensedit7730
@sorensedit7730 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Swop :) - Styles of gestures in the oral cavity also has a name, Twang being a good one to mention here, as well as Squeals etc. If you are trying to say that Tunnel throat does not change the amount of vibrating tissue in the voicebox, then you are incorrect, for example, air distortion makes everything vibrate in the voicebox, but not in a way that we can control. The Ventricular folds (false vocal folds) on their own do not do as much as you might think, one of the main reasons is that those folds do not have muscle fibers, so we can only close them and let them vibrate. The word distortion is an odd one, people normally say rock distortion about a very voiced sound where the ventricular folds are included. Maybe distortion should be used more to explain fry with, however words are added and changed ALL the time :) All the best!
