I wonder what the realistic longevity of these things is, Basic maintenance but just failure in general

If properly installed, potentially decades. 3M Di-Noc is the material that was used on station wagons and Jeep Wagoneers back in the 70's. we regularly get requests from customers who are restoring those old vehicles - unless a vehicle has been left forgotten in the sun for many years, the vinyl itself is usually in okay condition and still fully adhered, the color has just faded from UV. In a boat like this, fading over time is possible with how much sunlight comes in, but that won't cause the adhesive to fail. What can happen is water can make its way inside (usually through a bad seal or improperly sealed seam somewhere in the top deck) and saturate the wall behind the vinyl, which will cause it to lose adhesion and fall off. If that doesn't happen and the boat is maintained, there's not really anything that can cause the vinyl to fail.

Would love to see the after three/five/aight/ten years version of this video... Plus a measurement of emissions into the cabin due to sunlight and heat... And a burning test how this behave in case of an fire emergency or burning cables or other hazards one might have to deal with on an old boat...

I wrapped my car with good quality vinyl wrap. It took me approximately two months due to all the curves etc. It looked amazing, like a brand new car. Two years later it was a terrible mess with the wrapping shrunken in some places and actually burnt by the sun in other places. I'd used metallic blue vinyl and the colour had turned black in the worst areas. I live in Queensland Australia so yes, we have strong sunlight but I wouldn't wrap the interior of a boat as they can get VERY hot inside if left unattended.

Hello Susan. well it been over 2 years from now and I told the customer if you see anything peel or lifting up, please give me a call. No calls. The key is to pre out the subject well, then wrap it. Note: this is in the Seattle area and it's not as hot but I have done several Yachts in the Florida area and no call backs.

I was impressed. My question is about scuff, scraps, and longevity.

Just like everything in the world. If you take care of it, the vinyl will last a long time. If you get damage, its easy to fix it. Here one video you can watch. Repairing damage vinyl film architectural finishes Belbien or 3M Di Noc kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJu5l3ygpZqoqbM

Ahh, looks nice, but the sea and the sun make for a harsh environment. Wonder how it will look in five years time?

What knife did you use, snapoffs, japanese OLFA craft blades, and did you have issues with the red filler showing through the vinyl? Nice work.

just a question on cost and like wallpaper I'm not the guy for the job so what is the average cost for a 47 foot Swan? Thanks

That wood pattern and white film cost $10,500. It took me 13 days to do - $14300 labor plus add in the cost of flying over, Per Diem and car rental. www.rmwrapsstore.com/products/3m-di-noc-oak-fw-1130h-architectural-film

Which wood grain did you use for this project? It looks great and I think I may try it in my own boat.
do the wrapping material for interior the same with wrapping the boat body?

No. What are you trying to wrap?

There can be no touching up of nicks like could be done with paint.
@RMwrapsllc Жыл бұрын
These materials are much more durable than paint, and your odds of getting little nicks is low - but it's possible to repair as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJu5l3ygpZqoqbM

@@RMwrapsllc you’re evidently a master of what you do, but,sorry, it’s not to my taste and I really didn’t like the trim covered. It looks cheap without wood trim.
