Hey, everyone. This is Ben. Many of you have asked whether this is for ADN or BSN registered nurses. The numbers represent averages based on all types of registered nurses combined, regardless of degree type, position, experience, or specialty. However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics does not include self-employed RNs in their data. Thanks for watching, and thanks for all of the comments and likes on the video. I appreciate it.

After about 8 months it get bumped up to $40/hr. with night diff. currently making $45. after exactly a year of experience I got a NY ICU position with base is $50/hr + nights $3/hr. so going into my 2nd nursing Im pretty happy to get $53/hr but hope there is more room for growth!

Everyone needs to bear in mind that all the numbers that are presented are for a FULL TIME benefitted position, that is 40 hours/week or 2080 hours/year, good luck finding one. Everybody at the hospital I worked for before retiring end of 2020 were PART TIME benefitted. For California (my current state) it pays the most but keep context in mind , it is also the highest cost of living. If you don't spend at least a million dollars to buy a home, it will likely be over 50 years old and you'll still spend 400-500k for that and homeowners insurance just keeps rising because of the fires. Rental prices are more than a monthly mortgage. Gas prices are currently 4 to 5 dollars a gallon. It is very crowded and the roads are always congested and a lot of people commute long distances daily to work. Taxes, both state income and property taxes are very high. So everyone needs to keep that in mind for the $120,560/$57.96 reported in the video. Good Luck.

Wait what?!? Maybe in CA, here in TX they are giving out sign on bonuses for full time RNs ranging from 15k-20k most given in a year. We need staff and cant fill positions due to increased agency demand.
@namenotfound8747
@namenotfound8747 2 жыл бұрын
@@pvelardeNP What I would like to know is what city in California are they talking about? Cause that's not the case in CA since 2020, now in places like LA, SD, or SF, there has been times NPs are in short demand because there are so many RNs trying to get into these positions in these larger cities, kind of like MDs. They tend to want to stay in major cities. Even in smaller cities in CA, NP positions can be hard to come by, before 2020. Now that things are a little better, this trend with NPs is coming up again with full time NPs, but I had a meeting with directors from hospitals across southern CA and 200 med surgical fulltime positions go unfilled every year. So, not trying to belittle anyone, I wonder what positions is this person talking about? Cause, just people everyone has a RN licensure, that certainty doesn't mean everyone has the same skill set or capacity to do a job or will to do it. Of course everyone wants to make what top 90% nurse makes, but they are also nurses you wouldn't trust if they weren't being baby sat by someone else. In California, you just need to learn how to navigate how the economy we have here. Something nurses in CA won't tell you is that many live way beyond their means whether they make 100, 200, 300K+ and many have no sense of finance whatsoever so they overpay for a lot of things, but if cared to do their homework, which some don't they could be well off. I know of nurses make 300k+ a year that live paycheck to paycheck and cry they can't afford anything. Also know RNs that make 100k but were smart enough to invest and become financially literate and they have 2-3 million in assets or profits.

EXACTLY!! I've been saying this the whole time! Problem is, a lot of Nurses don't want to work OT, or pick up shifts. Well, when you do this, that's when the real money comes! And you can also negotiate as a Nurse for extra pay. "You want me to take a shift, well then lets negotiate that extra pay." It comes down to having a backbone, desiring to work more hours, and working on your negotiation skills. If a Nurse is complaining about their pay, its entirely on them. There's money to be had out there. Go get it!

Lets not forget Traveling Nurse wages! If you really want to make money in this field, become a TN! I know TN's that are currently making over $90/hr. regular pay, and then when the OT comes into play, you're making bank! $200k-$300k is achievable if you're willing to put in the work! This is an extreme case, but is pretty common as a TN, but even if you're making base pay of $50/hr. as a TN, which is easy to do, then doing the math with a 36/hr. work week, that's $93,600/yr (that's if you choose every week of the year). Lets say you actually work 50hr weeks, which is very common. That would attain you 14hrs of time and a half pay. Time and a half pay would be $75/hr., and at 14hrs/week of OT, that would net you an extra $1,050/week, which is an extra $54,600/year on top of your base pay. Add this to your base pay, and you're making $148,200/yr. See how this is just the way to go! Lets not forget that the companies also pay for you housing and food, and some pay for your traveling costs. So add all that into the equation, and you're either getting free food and housing, which are the biggest expenses in life usually. That's probably an extra $2500-$3000/month that the hospital is paying you for that stuff, of which you can choose to live and eat frugally, or spend it all on housing and food. Either way, that money is yours and is extra to you. So is not hard to earn $200k/yr as a TN. You just have to be smart in who you work for, where you work, and have the desire to actually WORK!!

It really depends on how you manage and leverage ur money. If you depend on exchanging ur hours for pay then you will get very exhausted overtime. I would invest a portion of ur money since you will get paid more than an average person to somewhere that will give you passive income. You will come to realize that it is a mental and physical draining job since you are doing everything on ur own and from my perspective it is always short staff. You got this! :)

And no support from the hospital administration.. they will say yes, there is coming RN to help, but my 12 hour shift is ended NO Help is arrive in the unit… and this is the only hospital that held the New RN Intern captive / hostage. If you want to resign early than 2 years. You are going to pay for $5,000.00. If you believe it , I have the contract and it’s an evidence.. RN wages SUCKS. Work loads are the only increases. And to much of bullying from the senior RN and threats from the Nurse director’s. Imagine 6-8 patient is too much, more work load comprising the patient care and most of all comprising patient safety……

The dark purple states have the highest salary but the cost of living is very high, high state taxes, etc. , so it just balances out. The most important thing though is not how much you make but how much you spend. Just a food for thought.

Why bother? It is substantially different. You dont directly work with people in need, which is the reason why people become a nurse to begin with. You want to be paid more, just study software, hardware, financial engineering. Or literally any other STEM degrees.

I agree that nurses deserve to be paid a lot, however, if you go into a hospital now it seems like Alot of them don’t wanna do any work. They’re at the nurses station gossiping and on their phones or walking around head down o their phones. Some of them are rude to the patients and don’t wanna have good bedside manner. Only Half the time is it that I come across a good nurse. It had become so trendy because of the money and that shouldn’t have a place in healthcare. It’s serious business
