Thank YOU so much for this video! 💖 I graduated from Troy University with my RN degree in December 2022, passed my NCLEX-RN in January 2023 and will return back to start the RN-BSN program in March 2023 with the same university. I have the same plan to do full time work and full time school. Very educational video! ✨

@Katherine_Ann Жыл бұрын
Great question, Sarah! It all depends on what your preferences or priorities are. If you're able to find a RN diploma or associates degree program like I did, then you can start working sooner. You could then have your employer pay for your RN to BSN, which is what I did. I personally think that's a great option by not only saving you money, but allows you to start your career sooner. Now if you really want to attend a four year school and have that experience, there's nothing wrong with that. Especially if you have a scholarship or just want to knock out your BSN all at once. It's really all up to you.

Hi there. I have questions regarding the class work. How was biochemistry and statistics? Did you find those hard? And how many papers did you have to write for the BSN program at WGU? I heard that you submit papers and WGU will give students corrections to be made before officially submitting them. Great video!
@Katherine_Ann
@Katherine_Ann 4 жыл бұрын
Biochem was a bit hard for me (due to me not wanting to study) but once I actually applied myself it was fine! Same with statistics! There are groups you can follow along with with all classes and have it more structured instead of by yourself. I ended up doing that with biochem and watching videos live from the instructor and asking question with other students, it was like a large Skype call. I believe I wrote less than 10 papers the entire time. There was one large paper and that for for the EBP class, but the rest were smaller papers. And you are correct, you are always to submit all classwork up to 3 times and they will give you corrections. You also are allowed to take tests like that too. Tou have two chances to pass the final than after that you have to lay to take it a third time but you also have to meet with a course instructor (online) and figure out what is going wrong that you aren't able to pass. Hope this helps!

Nurse Katherine thanks for the info!!! This is really helpful. Interesting about having to repay to retake the test if you fail it twice. The rep I’m talking to never mentioned that. Do you know the fee? And is it the same exact test each time you retake it? Thank youuuuu!!!
@Katherine_Ann
@Katherine_Ann 4 жыл бұрын
@@javierarizola13 you're very welcome! It's about 65 dollars I believe. It had to retake a test before and I believe it was that much. And no it is not the same test but some of the questions did repeat for the test I took. When you take the pre test for each class that will give you a great understanding of what is actually on the test. Also remember if you take the pretest first (like I did with the geriatric class) and do well you can take the final right away and skip all class work. A lot of class work... actually most is not required for the class. I passed that class in a few days because I just took the final and passed. I didn't even look at one page of the book or class work.

To do a RN to BSN program you have to be an RN first. Graduating with a ADN just gives you a Diploma, you then have to sit for your NCLEX, pass, and then work as an RN. Most employers will pay for most of not all of a RN to BSN program so I always suggest doing a Diploma program or ADN degree first so you dont go into debt.

You could go to any community college in the US as long as it's accredited. That's the cheapest option and you can probably roll over some international credits (check with the college). You could do an accelerated program in about 14 months but it's usually very intense and very expensive. If you do community college, you'll finish with an RN once you pass the NCLEX, then can get hired and pursue your BSN while working. Usually your job will pay part of the BSN. Good luck :)

Which is 6 years in total Or is it just 2 for the pre ? And 2 for the bsn ? Thank you very much.
@Katherine_Ann
@Katherine_Ann 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! So it depends where you go but a BSN. Program is only 4 years. You apply for "nursing school" and are accepted into the program but the first two years generally are just prerequisites and the last two or three incorporate clinicals. If you are trying to get in less debt or pay less for schooling do not do a BSN program right away. Do an associate program and then go back for your BSN. An associate program is 2-3 years and a typical online BSN is one year. I saved 16,000 doing it that way since my employer paid for my BSN degree.
