Let’s keep it 💯 the whole thing was a mess. Mario was almost whispering in the mic, O fumbled his catalog, their attitude was unnecessarily petty. That verzuz would have been much better as a low res front camera quarantined version. They disrespected that stage with that whack 1 hour plus performance. If you can’t handle the stage, don’t get on it. Do some unplugged stuff on the Tiny Desk Room, let Usher and Chris take the stage and respect it. Tank sang 4 seconds, and it was better than the whole set. Hard work shows…

He definitely needs to find GREAT talent to support his. And that combo could work. He’s had great success lately, though I personally don’t understand what he’s trying to achieve since D.N.A I haven’t yet went through this whole episode. But some of the greatest R&B artists that « fell down » usually did when they let themselves be taken into the trend (be it in the songs topics, or sound). Mario does not do anything that sets him apart from the rest if we’re honest. GO was the last iconic thing for him, and even then he had massive competition. The greatest albums of your favorite R&B artists are lead by a team of songwriters/producers that do the heavy lifting : Bobby V’s first album is Tim&Bob, Omarion had The Underdogs, Jagged Edge had B. Cox and JD, Usher had B.Cox and JD (and we have yet to have a classic since Confessions, but that guy has had his success expanding his horizons so can’t say much in regards to his career), Trey Songz with Anticipation/Ready had Troy Taylor / Eric Hudson, Mariah had JD/B.Cox and The Dream/Tricky Stewart… and we can go on Those album pieced together, with such and such, trying new stuff, or trying to give such or such sound just produces ephemeral efforts. Go into the studio, have grown man convos, and write some good stories with some of the strongest. Look at JD and B.Cox still wrecking the charts with Muni Long. Great talents are out there, figure out how to make it work. This guy could make a dope album with Tank and J Valentine, or with Tray Taylor doing the heavy lifting. They fit his latest suave persona (pause).

@@cherifouidir9869 He actually still makes good music
@AngeBiampandou10 ай бұрын
@@cherifouidir9869 You made so many great points. I you spoke facts. And tbh that's what was missung with Usher last album too. There was NO direction. I was hoping that he was still working and teaming with JD and B Cox since they got back in the studio together around 2019-2020 before the pandemic hit. They were teasing Confessions 2 which was VERY risky knowing the classic status of the former one. But it didn't go nowhere at the end and they are barely on the new album Coming Home. B Cox is credited on only one track and same goes for JD. And that is wild. And like you said they very much still got it from Ari Lennox's Pressure (her biggest billboard hit to date) to Muni Long's Made For Me that's been climbing the charts crazy for 4-5 weeks alone now. I was also thinking about Ne-Yo/Stargate and what they were able to do as well in 2006-08 with his 1st 3 albums (In My Own World, Because of You, The Year of the gentleman). Justin Timberlake/ Pharrell and JT/Timbaland/Danja were great pairing too and it created iconic and very influencial bodies of work (Justified, Future Sex/Love Sound, The 20/20 Experience)

I officially started listening to Mario in 2009, when his "D.N.A." album came out. "Break Up" was one of the hits on that album. Been a fan, ever since. There's something nostalgic and current about his voice, on every album- like, he doesn't miss.

Good Ol Alicia Keys and Kerry Brothers on the pen and production. They were magical that’s easily still in my top 5 of Mario favorite songs.
