It's amazing that Steven Tyler wrote the lyrics for this song when he was only 14 years old. Another great Aerosmith song if you haven't already heard it is "Sweet Emotion"

I was like, 13. Home alone. Mom forgot to send in the Columbia House return ticket. 8-track was around for awhile unopened. Bored one day, I decided to give it a listen. Put it in the big console player they had. WoW! My life was transformed? I grew up in rural Nebraska. Only AM radio with pork belly future reports, Patsy Cline, stuff like that? This was MIND BLOWING?

Back in the 70s there was a battle of the bands event in which Aerosmith won with this song. One of the other bands in the competition was a band called Mad Angel. Joe D'Angelo was a guitarist and vocalist for Mad Angel. Steven Tyler offered a position on Aerosmith to Joe, but he turned it down to be on Mad Angel. Even though Mad Angel was a very good band with several good songs like I personally like they never put out an album and broke up a few short years later, while we all know what happened with Aerosmith. Not Back in the early 80s my family were living in the top floor of a two floor house and Joe D'Angelo's Family lived on the first floor. Joe D'Angelo became my guitar teacher for a few years in the early 80s. I brought lyrics I had written to my lessons and we recorded songs our of them on cassette tapes. Unfortunately, I never pursued a music career.

This was the 1st 8-track I bought for my 1st car back in 1974. I saw their first 3-4 tours and even caught Joey Kramer’s drum stick at the Texxas Jam !! All their music is superb !!

I played with Steve (Tallarico) before he adopted the stage name Tyler, . in Westport CT when I was at Staples HS in 1966-67. He was a drummer then I was told just to play guitar - not to sing, there was another kid who was told to just sing - not to play the guitar! He opened for the Yardbirds for their first US concert with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. We got together after the concert and talked about how blown away we were. The other neat thing was that Linda Eastman photographed the concert and spent some time with me showing me how to expose for faces spotlighted with stage lighting. A few weeks later she went to England for the first time and became Ms. Paul McCartney. When it is actually happening and you are young you never know exactly what you are experiencing.

I love their first four albums but I still pretty much like this very first album the best, including everything on it. And I really like the track sequencing on it as well. Dream on is Iconic for a reason, and it's just one of those great songs where everything really came together. Mama Kin, and, Walk the Dog are two absolute bangers and fan favorites from this same first album.

Just so you have their names, Aerosmith is/was: Steven Tyler-Vocals-Piano, Joe Perry-Guitar, Brad Whitford-Guitar, Tom Hamilton-Bass and Joey Kramer-Drums. Originally formed in New Hampshire, but more famously from Boston. First saw them live in 1975, and about ten times more up to 2001. Other goodies: "Somebody", "S.O.S. (Too Bad)", "Seasons Of Wither", "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Back In The Saddle", "Rats In The Cellar", "Combination". Enjoy.

This year after many operations Steven Tyler announced his voice could no longer perform and they retired the band. In tribute the song Dream On was played by most of us fans. A tearful goodbye to say the least.

You'll find that a lot of the classic rock songs can be a little obscure in their meanings. The songs mean whatever you feel they mean and how they affect you. I really envy the young people doing these reactions, because you have their entire musical catalogs laid before you to experience. We had to wait at least a year and sometimes it was 3,4,5 years between albums! Great reaction Re.

Yes, it was amazing, especially for a debut! I saw them a bunch of times but the first one was an eye opener, just as their first album was coming out, they were a great opener for Mott the Hoople in 1973. We knew they would be big and they headline arenas not long after. They have many songs to try, do Sweet Emotion next for an all time banger. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥

"Sweet Emotion" is a great Aerosmith song. You seem to like Blues Rock aka Rock & Soul or Rhythm Rock and "Sweet Emotion" hits that mark. There are many famous bands you can explore that do this same type of rock music: Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, even some of the grunge bands like Pearl Jam have songs that fall into this category.

Aerosmith has a massive catalog. I believe their first album came out in 72 I could be wrong but they started in the 70s and until a few years ago they still toured. They’ve had to retire because Steven Tyler has destroyed his voice. Most people who have covered this song crashed and burned but there was a young lady named Amanda Brown who performed it live on The Voice and holy crap it was epic! Steven Tyler is a legend!
